St John Paull II Parish in Harrisburg SD is seeking a lifelong Catholic Missionary Disciple to serve in the part time role of Liturgy Coordinator. The qualified candidate will have related experience on liturgical aspects of the Church and will be an active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.
The Liturgy Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the worship life of the parish community by assisting staff and volunteers in order to provide quality liturgical experiences for the lay faithful. To apply, submit a resume and cover letter to Patricia Raasch at praasch@divinemercysf.org
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with parish weekend liturgies, including transporting of items needed for worship at off-site locations, set-up and tear down, opening and locking up rented locations
- Coordinate on location all persons involved in liturgical ministries; presiders, lectors, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, servers, sacristans, ushers, etc.
- Utilize Ministry Scheduler Pro app to manage liturgy volunteers, only as needed; contact volunteers to find substitutes as needed
- Oversee aesthetic decor and cleanliness of the worship space, the provision of sacred vessels and vestments, and assistance with the sound system
- Educate members of the parish and serve as a parish resource in matters of liturgical understanding, sensitivity, and planning
- Prepare ‘Prayers of the Faithful’ for lector/reader use at weekend liturgies (copy excerpt from Magnificat publication); add Mass intention or other prayers as directed
- Plan ministry training for volunteers, as parish calendar and schedules allow
- Recruit and prepare altar servers for Mass
Qualifications:
Primary
- Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position.
- Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
- Related experience and familiarization with liturgical aspects of the Church

- Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- An understanding and working knowledge of all desktop applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite and various web applications.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment to think strategically, multitask, and conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
- Proven communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals while maintaining strict confidentiality.
