ADESA Portland is looking for a Local Rollback Transport Driver to join our team! Reporting to Operations Manager or designated manager, the driver will be responsible for the efficient and safe pick up and delivery of customer vehicles to required destinations. Operate truck in a safe and legal manner in compliance with safety regulations. Perform all duties assigned by the Manager or Supervisor. Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and state or federal laws are followed at all times.
What you'll be doing:
- Operate a 33,000 GVWR roll deck tow truck
- Deliver cars and light trucks to the Portland/Vancouver metro area
- No repo activity whatsoever
- No overnight travel
- No accident clean up
- Mostly M-F daytime work with occasional part-time weekend work
- Occasional OT
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide efficient, safe and professional pick up and delivery of vehicles associate with fleet/lease, factory and dealer consignments.
- Load and unload vehicles safely and free of damage.
- Operate truck in compliance with safety regulations
- Provide prompt and courteous service both in person and on the phone. Maintain a professional appearance and neat work environment consistent with company policy.
- Make sure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention from all employees.
- Be familiar with procedures for handling all aspects of customer questions, complaints or disputes.
- Resolve any customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner. Advise the Manager or Supervisor immediately of all serious complaints or incidents.
- Interact with customers to verify vehicle information, condition of vehicle, etc.
- Complete condition report as required by customer and complete paperwork related to the pick up and delivery function in an efficient and accurate manner.
- Immediately report to Manager or Supervisor anything that occurs which may potentially jeopardize the ability to physically or legally operate a motor vehicle.
- Immediately report to Manager or Supervisor all driving related incidents, including traffic citations, warnings, accidents or mechanical problems experienced on either private or public property, on or off the job.
- Practice conservative, cautious and courteous operating habits.
- Promote positive employee relations and morale whenever possible by practicing sound human relations principles to promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.
- Maintain a good flow of communication with all personnel.
- Assure good operating condition of equipment and facilities. Advise the Manager or Supervisor of all breakdowns and maintenance needs immediately.
- Make sure the area conditions do not threaten employee or customer safety. Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee and customer accidents, injuries and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to the Manager or Supervisor immediately.
- Practice proper loss prevention and reaction procedures. Report all incidents properly and immediately to the Manager or Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Wrecker/towing or heavy duty experience preferred.
- Auction knowledge and experience preferred (not required)
- Class A CDL required.
- Must be comfortable backing up trailers.
- Ability to work outdoors under any type of weather conditions.
- Must be qualified to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must not be under the influence of any condition or substance that could distract or impair the ability to safely and efficiently operate a motor vehicle.
- Must be able to read English and/or comprehend motor vehicle traffic signs.
- Effective customer relations, communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Ability to understand and adhere to Company policies in all areas is required.
