Reports To: Senior Logistics Manager

At GFC, we are seeking a Logistics Manager to serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day logistics operations supporting the organization's logistics objectives. This is a key role on the Logistics team as you will drive performance and improvements in quality, cost, and delivery while managing the logistics network on a regional, continental, and global level.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Field all inquiries for inbound and outbound shipments and coordinating with suppliers and transportation providers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of shipments.
- Coordinates expedite/special shipping arrangements as necessary
- Track and correct shipping errors, updating TMS
- Ensures that the quality of all services provided meets the required standards
- Track critical metrics and provide consistent reporting to key stakeholders across the company for both completed and future shipments
- Support the Accounts Payable team with accurate payment of billing and auditing of logistics costs, as well as correct routing of charges to the appropriate internal business units
- File and maintain all shipping documentation.
- Maintain departmental reports, metrics, and records.
- Daily coordination with the Senior Logistics Manager and support of department objectives
- This position will perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE POSITION:
- Must have in-depth knowledge of the transportation industry and strong working knowledge of all transportation modes.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle pressure handling simultaneous, possibly conflicting situations
- Must be dedicated to meeting the requirements and expectations of both internal and external customers
- Strong internal and external communication, and customer service skills
- Strong reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be comfortable making decisions, and having confidence in those decisions
- Strong Experience in TMS use and management
- Role may be entirely remote, and internet based requiring strong PC skills:
- Moderate to strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Word, Excel, Power Point
- Email & Internet Use
- Microsoft Outlook
- Moderate to strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to drive change, build trust, instill confidence, engage, and inspire others, work collaboratively, and influence professional relationships throughout the organization.
- Ability to work across departments
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours, when necessary
- Supervisory skills are a plus to manage and coordinate performance review decisions, as well as mentor and supervise development of staff
- Experience with ERP systems preferred
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5-7 years of progressive experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations
- Demonstrated experience implementing & using logistics software
- Local to the Livonia, MI area
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Supply Chain or Logistics is preferred, although progressive related work experience will be considered.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- This has no direct hires but may occasionally be asked to act in a supervisory capacity if the Sr. Logistics Manager is unavailable.
TRAVEL:
- Occasional travel is expected for this position (0-10%).
