Summary:
This position is responsible for the packaging of manufactured products. Packer responsibilities are in a support role for several areas of manufacturing, including, but not limited to; injection molding, thermoforming, quality and assembly.
Responsibilities will include: (but not limited to the following):
- Responsibility to safety procedures
- Visually inspect, place into box (as necessary), and palletize finished goods to customer specifications
- Use lifting assist device to where applicable
- Tape and makes boxes for workcenters, insuring to keep the proper quantity available at all times
- Monitor quality (deviations, comparing comparators)
- Document daily production values, including scrap quantities and reasons
- Operate pallet jack
- Cleaning/housekeeping; sweeping, cleaning machines
- Stack cartons from 25-40 #’s on pallets
- Pushing/pulling full pallets on pallet jack and transport to elevator
- Maintain assigned area in a fashion consistent with 5S principals
Notify shift leader and/or technical employees if a workcenter is experiencing consistent issues, or has stopped cycling - Insure that all machine downtime (start times) are recorded
- Record accurate production data that includes all necessary information needed for tracking purposes
- Assist with the flow of raw materials, supplies, and finished goods to and from the production area.
- Participate in the training of new employees
- Support and maintain all policies of the company including but not limited to ISO Standards, Health and Safety Requirements, Continuous Improvement, and standard work procedures.
- Report unsafe conditions and behaviors
Qualifications
- Must have excellent attendance
- Must be safety & quality conscious at all times
- Must be responsible, self motivated and function well in a team environment
- Be open to a flexible work schedule and work overtime as needed
- Must have good communication skills, both written and oral
- Be able to perform basic visual quality inspections on products
- Production environment, Must have excellent attendance, long periods of standing
- Ability to repeatedly lift boxes ranging from 25-40lbs onto pallet manually and/or with the use of a Tawi lifter.
- Able to use a pallet jack on full skids
- Effectively communicates with all co-workers, assists and coaches others when able
- Acts in a consistently safe manner, Effectively managing one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently
- Reports each day, on time, ready to contribute
- Able to contribute and adapt when work assignments change
