Easton Housing Authority (EHA) has a full-time opening for the position of Maintenance Supervisor. This position reports directly to EHA's Senior Manager of Property Management. The Maintenance Supervisor works together with the Senior Manager overseeing all maintenance and repair activities at EHA-owned and -managed public housing properties. This includes coordinating and scheduling job assignments, direct supervision and project oversight of maintenance staff, and ensuring that all repairs and work are done in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. The Maintenance Supervisor is also responsible for implementing preventive maintenance programs to minimize repairs and extend the life of equipment/systems.
The selected candidate will work from EHA's 11th Street maintenance operations building. It is a requirement to have a valid driver's license and to live within 30 miles of 157 South 4th Street.
The selected candidate will be comfortable and effective with conversing regularly with public housing residents - and will have the emotional intelligence to do so in a courteous and deescalating manner - as well as professional contractors and EHA administrative staff. Professionalism will be expected of the supervisor and their direct team, as mentored and monitored continually by the supervisor and Senior Manager.
Salary: $65k-70k exempt, commensurate with experience. See total compensation section below for additional benefits.
Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.
- Lead and manage all EHA maintenance staff - a team consisting of Laborers and Skilled Laborers.
- Develop and oversee maintenance staff scheduling and daily work/project assignments, in conjunction with Senior Manager.
- Develop and oversee daily work/project assignments.
- Responsibly managing emergency situations and/or after-hours calls for maintenance and repairs.
- Regularly inspect tools, equipment, and facilities.
- Diagnose and resolve maintenance issues.
- Enforce safety regulations and protocols.
- Work closely with Inventory Clerk on tools and supplies.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities.
- Oversee repair work and ensure timely completion.
- Provide training and development for maintenance personnel.
- Assist in managing the maintenance budget.
- Work toward continuous quality improvement.
- Stay current with changing technology, including software and maintenance techniques and systems.
- Uphold, support, and promote all organizational policies and procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities: The Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance operations, including supervising staff, coordinating repairs, and maintaining equipment. Additionally, they will administer disciplinary measures when necessary to ensure compliance with organizational policies. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional work environment. The Maintenance Supervisor will directly supervise a team of approximately (4) employees.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of direct, demonstrable supervisory experience overseeing a maintenance or construction team.
- Experience working with public or affordable housing maintenance and/or development is a plus.
- Superior knowledge of buildings and systems is required; experience related to both commercial and residential is a plus.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) at a minimum.
- Associates Degree in project management or similar field of study, and/or technical training certificate is desired.
- Certifications required/desired, as further detailed below.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Word and Outlook, but Excel is a plus) and familiar and comfortable with property management CRM / project management online/cloud-based software systems.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid PA Driver's License.
- Certified Plumber is required. Electrical and HVAC certifications are a plus.

- Working in wet or humid conditions and near moving mechanical parts is occasionally required. There are also some tasks that require working in high, precarious places, and they might be exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold or heat (non-weather related), and the risk of electrical shock are minimal. However, there is no exposure to explosives or radiation, and only some exposure to vibration. Overall.
