POSITION SUMMARY
The job of an MRI technician involves operating magnetic resonance imaging machines in hospitals or other diagnostic imaging facilities. They create diagnostic images of patients according to their physicians’ orders, assist patients in preparation for the scans while ensuring the highest level of quality and service to the patient throughout the process.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Coordinates and scans MRI procedures in a clinical setting
- Provides appropriate and timely patient education and preparation.
- Obtains consent form signature when applicable.
- Monitors daily quality assurance and ensures equipment is operated according to manufacturer’s specifications.
- Ensures overall cleanliness of the unit in accordance with Infection Control Techniques.
- Works with physician and other professionals to enable timely image review and release of patient.
- Maintains and updates quality control records, patient log books and other reports.
- Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES
- Education - Satisfactory Completion of an approved Radiology Technology Program.
- Certification/s –MR Certification Required
- Minimum one years’ experience working in an MRI environment.
- Ability to lift and carry or move heavy objects approximately 50 lb.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Must have dexterity of hands and fingers in order to utilize tools, utensils, equipment, etc.
- Ability to kneel, bend or stoop in order to complete job responsibilities at very low or floor levels.
- Ability to visually perceive depth, distance, read material, and view documents with or without corrective lenses. Ability to hear inquiries form patients, physicians, clients and staff.
- Interpersonal skills must be well-developed. Should possess the initiative and ability to set and achieve high standards of performance.
- BLS/CPR required or post hire of 6 months.
