BU School of Public Health is looking for a dynamic Multimedia Producer/Editor to join our fast-paced Marketing and Communications team. Reporting to the Director of Editorial Content, this role is responsible for creating high-quality, engaging video and audio content that showcases SPHs excellence in teaching, research, and practice, aligned with our core purpose: Think. Teach. Do. For the Health of All.
The Multimedia Producer/Editor plays a critical role in enhancing the visibility and reach of Boston University's School of Public Health across multiple channels and formats in a rapidly evolving and often polarized media landscape. With a keen eye for compelling hooks, storylines, soundbites, and visuals, they strategically craft timely content that engages audiences with SPH's research and educational initiatives, increasing awareness of BUSPH and an understanding of broader public health news and research.
Video Production:
- Regularly create videos on SPH research, student/faculty profiles, and degree program marketing across platforms, including YouTube, the SPH website, and our weekly newsletter
- Collaborate with the Manager of Social Media Content Strategy to develop and provide video content created specifically for social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
- Produce ad hoc video content as assigned, including event coverage, leadership messages, and special requests.
- Assist with event video production as needed, which may occasionally require evening or weekend work.
Audio Production:
- Record, edit, and publish the Free Associations podcast, collaborating with faculty hosts on topics and providing feedback on episode scripts. Create clips for social media platforms as part of broader content deliverables.
- Assess and provide recommendations for new audio projects as they arise, offering insight into potential future initiatives.
- Serve as a consultant for other school-level podcasts, offering best practices and recommendations, and providing light editing support when requested.
General:
- Manage all video production logistics from concept to publication, including scripting, identifying subjects and locations, editing, and fact-checking for video and audio content.
- Meet project deadlines and ensure deliverables align with the school's broader marketing and communications goals.
- Participate in regular content strategy meetings and provide input on aligning multimedia production with engagement objectives.
- Review and share performance analytics and metrics to inform future content creation strategies.
- Stay up to date on industry best practices and trends in digital video and audio production.
This is a hybrid, full-time position located in Boston, requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office.
Required Skills
Required Skills:
- Proficient in video editing with Adobe Premiere Pro or Apple Final Cut Pro
- Proficient in audio editing with Adobe Audition, Audacity, Hindenburg or similar app
- Proficient in sound recording with a variety of studio and field equipment
- Familiarity with podcast best practices and tools
- Translating and creating video to social media
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience capturing still photography, which can include event and/or portrait
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
- Experience creating graphics, animation, and data visualization
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least three work samples
- Demonstrated proficiency with digital media equipment and editing software
- Proven ability to manage all production aspects, from videography to file delivery
- Strong understanding of professional production techniques, including lighting and sound
- Self-motivated with excellent project management skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse groups
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Willingness to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
