Job Title: Machine Operator/Welder/Robotic Welder
Job Description
Candidates will be welding steel parts for structural, plate, and miscellaneous steel assemblies per shop drawings. Primary techniques performed for this position are flux core, MIG, and tack welding. This is not a production-type environment where you weld similar parts all day. Candidates will be working on various steel fabrication projects for large-scale construction use, including handrails, staircases, and other operations.
Responsibilities
+ Use machine to Weld steel parts for structural, plate, and miscellaneous steel assemblies per shop drawings.
+ Utilize flux core, MIG, and tack welding techniques.
+ Work on various steel fabrication projects for large-scale construction use, including handrails and staircases.
+ Read and interpret blueprints to fit metal parts according to diagrams.
+ Tack weld metal parts together to be fitted.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 6 months of experience working as a welder for a steel fabricator or manufacturer.
+ One-year degree or certificate in welding technology from a qualified trade school or college.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
+ Proficiency in flux core, MIG, and tack welding techniques.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with steel fabrication and structural steel.
+ Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment.
+ Strong communication skills to work effectively within a team.

Work Environment
The work environment is a very large warehouse-type facility with open garages, non-climate controlled. Heat can be on average 20 degrees hotter than outside temperature in the summer, while normal in winter. Large overhead cranes sit over each workstation to move the steel beams. The environment is very open and spacious with no workstation boundaries, and people and forklifts moving around frequently. The dress code includes t-shirt, jeans, and metatarsal boots. Permanent employees will be offered boot vouchers once a year to upgrade their boots. Candidates will be required to have their own metatarsal boots on day one. The operation runs on 4 10-hour shifts. Overtime is offered as a full 10-hour shift on the 5th day. Shifts are Monday-Thursday, with overtime on Friday, and Thursday-Sunday, with overtime on Monday. Each day has two shifts: 1st shift from 5 AM to 3:30 PM, and 2nd shift from 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM, with a shift pay differential of 7% for 2nd shift. Candidates will be on their feet for their entire shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break, all paid for. Candidates will be lifting 20 lbs continuously, 35 lbs frequently, and 85 lbs occasionally.
