Role Overview and Responsibilities:This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Job Summary
- Designs transformers, inductors, and related assemblies of various complexity for quoting and manufacture. Assigns work to Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineers, as required.
- Acts as an owner of product design and assists Manufacturing Engineering with product support and training. Assists in project management, as required.
- Communicates electrical and mechanical design concepts to Manufacturing Engineering, assists in work instruction development and reviews their work.
- Directs and works with Manufacturing Engineering to coordinate material and labor estimates from new designs, sets up new part numbers in the company MRP database, and maintains digital files along with configuration control.
- Leads cost and waste reduction efforts, including product and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Interacts with the Sales team and outside customers regarding specific designs. Partners with the Sales team for new business development.
- Researches and evaluates materials and manufacturing processes.
- Resolves technical problems with both internal and external customers. Serves as a technical resource in DFMEA and PFMEA processes. Partners with the Quality team in resolving issues with customers, production, or supply chain.
- Provides mentorship for engineering positions and assists with designs, as required. Provides design review for other engineers and recognizes/communicates potential technical and manufacturing problems concerning new product designs.
- Assists in building product prototypes and production process debugging.
- Approximately 20% sales-oriented travel required, as well as a consistent on-site presence.

Desireable Skills and Experience
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering; associates degree in Engineering or prior managerial and equivalent experience may be considered.
- Ten (10) years minimum design experience at a Senior level design position required. Manufacturing experience of the same or similar product required.
- Training or familiarity using simulation programs such as PSIM, ANSYS Maxwell or equivalent preferred.
- Familiarity with mechanical design software such as Inventor or SolidWorks a plus.
- Experience in the design and successful manufacture of three phase auto-transformer rectifier units, medium voltage transformers and high voltage transformers is required.
- Experience with associated military and aerospace specifications such as MIL-PRF-27, MIL-STD-202, and RTCA DO-160 a plus.
