POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting in maintaining the community in the areas of physical plant, equipment, grounds, and for keeping accurate maintenance records. Responsible for following all regulations that pertain to the maintenance of the community. Performs routine maintenance and repair of residence, maintaining physical appearance of the grounds and building as well as ensuring that the building is physically sound and safe. Works with outside contractors as needed.
REPORTS TO: MAINTENANCE DIRECTOR/EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform general custodial duties to maintain a clean and safe environment for our residents
- Assists with transportation of residents to scheduled outings, appointments and events.
- Ensures all areas are tidy and presentable.
- Follows safety protocols and regulations while performing duties.
- Interacts with residents and staff in a friendly professional manner.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Experience in custodia or custodial/janitorial work is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible availability to accommodate varying schedules
EQUIPMENT USED
May use hand tools, electric and gas tools including, but not limited to, lawnmower, snow blower, tree trimmer, paint brush, carpet cleaner, floor buffer. Any personal tools used must be inventoried and on record for the Executive Director prior to using them in the facility.
PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- Ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance activities and must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds, carry, drive, pull, push, squat, bend, climb, kneel, reach, crawl, twist, grasp, and feel to perform maintenance duties.
- The worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions and frequent interruptions. May be subject to extreme weather conditions (i.e., temperatures below 32 degrees and over 90 degrees). The worker is subject to
hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals and climbing ladders. - May work beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays when necessary. Scheduled hours may change to meet community needs.
