The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for establishing and supervising the performance of preventive maintenance programs and personnel for improvement of production line performance along with scheduling and planning of line maintenance and cost reduction activities. You will have the opportunity to work with cross-functional groups (Production, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Accounting) in process, quality, and cost improvement projects and in the resolution of major issues.
This position is part of the Engineering team and will be located in Lodi, CA. The Supervisor will be supervising technicians whose shift starts at 5 pm. Shifts will be 12 hours. At Cepheid, our vision is to be the leading provider of seamlessly connected diagnostic solutions.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Oversee the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program for manufacturing equipment: Perform and write PM procedures, Schedule and coordinate PM, major projects, and equipment upgrades, Review the program and implement changes for improving manufacturing line efficiencies and maintenance department performance.
- Provide performance appraisal, employee coaching, and counseling. Resolve conflicts and implement disciplinary action, when needed. Manage staffing (headcount) to meet equipment maintenance needs and coordinate the tasks for hiring.
- Work with outside vendors for equipment purchases. Manage spare part's usage for manufacturing equipment and make changes to improve cost and efficiency.
- Ensure all Mfg areas and equipment are maintained in Good Housekeeping condition. Monitor equipment and chart course for continuous improvement of OEE, as well as, monitor maintenance processes for compliance with Company, FDA, ISO, OSHA, and GMP regulations. Troubleshoot and resolve automation equipment issues.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- High School degree with 8+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related work experience OR Master's degree with 3+ years of related work experience
- Hands-on equipment experience with hand tools and machine shop tooling expertise
- Experience with mechanical design concepts and machinery: Electrical, Mechanical, and Electromechanical schematics, motors, pumps, vacuum, and hydraulics, including technical equipment expertise, knowledge, and skillset, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in maintenance or technical field, supplemented by courses in Supervisory and Communication skills, Good Manufacturing Practices, cost accounting, product quality, and excellent computer knowledge.
