SALARY: $27.83/hour 2024 Starting Step NYS Retirement; Health, Dental, Vision Benefits; Paid time off; CSEA Union;
LOCATION: City of Saratoga Springs NY – Department of Public Works – “Carpentry Crew”
Two years of full-time paid tree maintenance experience such as trimming, pruning, felling, planting, and transplanting trees OR
Three years of full-time paid experience in public works or building construction or maintenance activities involving the application of carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical trades techniques.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a current and valid NYS driver's License and must maintain for the duration of employment.
DUTIES:
The work involves responsibility for performing semi-skilled work on public works projects including the construction, maintenance, and/or repair of municipal streets, bridges, parks and grounds, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, and street signage and markings, and for assisting skilled workers on such projects. Although a working knowledge of one or more trades is necessary, a Maintenance Mechanic does not utilize the more skilled techniques for any considerable portion of his/her time. The incumbent also uses tools, operates equipment, and performs manual labor related to the project assigned. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Public Works. General instructions are received regarding routine jobs with detailed instructions on new, unusual, or difficult assignments. Supervision of others is not a function of this class. Does related work as required.
