MAINTENANCE MECHANIC – PPG BARBERTON/NORTON FACILITY
Pay: $32.80/hr
Shift: 1st (Day) 7am-3pm

General Job duties of the Maintenance Mechanic at the Barberton facility include, but are not limited to:
- Must perform all job task in a safe manner, by following all of the mandatory safety requirements and guidelines.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and repair of pumps, motors, gearboxes, agitators, dies, extruders, feeders, slitters, cutters, rolls, drive chains, classifiers, mills, etc. following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
- Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
To perform their job, the Maintenance Mechanics regularly operate facility equipment which may include:
- Lathe, Bridgeport milling machine, drill press, radial arm drill press, band saws, cut off saw, friction saw, arbor presses, hydraulic press, sandblasting cabinet, tow motor, scissor lifts, articulating man lifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes, battery operated drills and saws, etc.
**Experience and education: **Have completed certified maintenance apprentice program or mechanical technical certificate and have at least five (5) years’ experience performing maintenance work in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a chemical facility. High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
