Preparation and Training
Work requires the ability to read, write and speak English and to perform basic math,calculations, prepare reports, keep records and/or deal effectively with other people. Work requires, in addition to the skills normally acquired through a general high school education, specialized or technical training, which may be obtained in high school, commercial or shop courses or by a brief (more than six months but less than one year) intensive preparation outside of a school.
Work Experience
- Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Mental and visual ability to identify various parts, read mechanical and electrical blueprints, read instruments, gauges, scales, thermometers, micrometers, etc... Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Capable of moving up and down building stairways and equipment ladders to reach job assignments and perform tasks required. Tasks may require working from a ladder or elevated platform. Physical activities require are stooping, climbing, crouching, reaching, feeling, standing, kneeling, crawling, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, bending, grasping, talking, and hearing.
- Capable of understanding, in English, complex verbal and written tasks instructions and reading equipment manuals, blueprints, measuring instruments, notices and work schedules as posted on bulletin board.
- Mechanical subject to working mostly inside, protected from weather conditions with occasional outside work.
- Mechanical subject to hazards such as prox1m1ty to moving parts, electrical current, ammonia and moving objects carrying considerable weight and force.
- Capable of working in environment of low-level nuisance dust, including, but not limited to, flour and rye dust.
Essential Tasks:
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Working from blueprints, specifications, sketches and verbal orders to install, transfer, move, set-up, repair, operate or test machined, tools, electrical controls and measuring devices. Possesses ability to use a variety of maintenance hand and power tools.
- Possesses training in, and a thorough working knowledge of, industrial, electrical and electronic controls, including hard-wired and solid state systems and related components.
- Use and interpret date obtained form electrical and electronic instruments and testing devices.
- Able to troubleshoot, correct and/or reprogram programmable controllers and document
- Must maintain accurate and timely records of work performed on electronic work orders, maintenance calls and preventive maintenance reports. Prepare specific and accurate parts request forms.
- Respond to maintenance and live stoppage calls and be prepared to provide emergency repairs efficiently and quickly. Move material as required.
- Follow company policy and OSHA regulations to ensure safe work habits and condition's for employee and fellow employees. Responsible for preventing loss or injury due to improper or unsafe operations of equipment. Responsible for following lockout/tagout procedures as well as specific procedures dealing with Emergency Response and hazardous material.
- Recommend and collaborate with management personnel in decisions related to breakdown repair options. Recommend cost savings improvements to Management.
- Serve as member of Emergency Response Team and participate m training, as required for fire and ammonia.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area within the maintenance shop and at each work site where jobs are performed.
- Display initiative in recognizing work to be done, judgment and ingenuity in helping with troubleshooting and recommending repairs.
- Perform duties in all areas within the Maintenance Department.
- Make pick up runs of parts and maintenance supplies, as directed.
- Assist inspectors in drawing samples of flour and water.

Work Experience
- Job requires twenty-four months of experience in electrical and mechanical work in a manufacturing environment, preferably a bakery.
- Analytical Ability
- A relatively high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to difficult technical problems.
- Independent Judgment And Consequences Of Errors
- Independent judgment is often required. Direct guidance is received from Management and/or established procedures or instructions. The impact of errors would result in cost in time, money or quality of product.
- Contact With Others
- Frequent internal contact with production personnel and Management, occasional contact with outsiders such as contractors and equipment and parts service representatives.
- Supervision Of Others
- No responsibility for the work of others
- During periods of unworked time or downtime, work is to be done as assigned by Management.
- A quality product i's the responsibility of each employee. Be alert to handle or report any damaged or inferior product to Management.
- Keep area of assignment work neat and clean. Assist other employees when possible.
- Notify Management of any equipment problems.
- Maintain a high state of safety awareness.
- Keep hands out of moving machinery.
- Lift properly.
- Be alert to movement of materials or other people to give right of way as needed.
- Must be familiar with Emergency Evacuation Procedure.
- Do not change job procedures without authorization from Management.

- Perform all other related assignments and training of other employees as required by Maintenance Manager or Assistant Operations Manager.
