MAINTENANCE MECHANIC
Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network is a community health facility in Central Texas providing services and supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and substance use disorders. We serve McLennan, Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, and Limestone counties.
The person hired for this position will perform semi-skilled work in one or more maintenance and building construction trades. Work involves assisting in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, and/or motorized equipment. This person will also help with groundskeeping such as mowing, weed eating, hedge cleaning etc.

The person hired for this position will perform semi-skilled work in one or more maintenance and building construction trades. Work involves assisting in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, and/or motorized equipment. This person will also help with groundskeeping such as mowing, weed eating, hedge cleaning etc.
Experience and duties required:
- Plumbing knowledge to address leaks, clogs or other drainage problems.
- Maintains and repairs equipment such as washer, dryer, and air conditioning.
- Electrical wiring capabilities to manage problems with the building’s electricity includes but not limited to light fixtures, ballasts, wall outlets, etc.
- Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building which may include painting, repairs to walls, doors, furniture, etc.
- Groundskeeping if the facility contains lawns or other outdoor areas in need of maintenance-includes mowing, weed eating, hedge trimming, general landscape, etc.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees or residents of the facility in a pleasant manner.
- Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of building maintenance and repair; fire and safety regulations
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to maintain and care for hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work in all types of weather year-round.
- Ability to be CPR certified.
- Valid driver's license.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year experience in maintenance/Grounds Keeping Preferred
