Position Overview:
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the maintenance activities of the manufacturing facility, ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and equipment. This role involves leading a team of maintenance technicians, implementing preventative maintenance programs, and troubleshooting equipment failures. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a solid technical/mechanical background, and a commitment to maintaining safety and compliance standards. This position requires effective communication and collaboration with other departments to optimize production efficiency and minimize downtime.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage and prioritize daily activities and projects of the maintenance department, ensuring efficient operations and adherence to safety standards.
- Provides technical support to manufacturing for process and product specific issues.
- Oversees successful completion of all construction projects.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track preventative maintenance (PM) tasks effectively. Issue weekly maintenance schedule and monitor PM performance to ensure optimal equipment functionality and minimal downtime.
- Project manage installation of new equipment with minimal interruption to manufacturing process.
- Monitor and improve efficiency, quality, and safety of equipment
- Support operations through design and upgrade to existing equipment and processes to improve efficiency and safety of operation
- Support opportunities for manufacturing cost reductions
- Perform and/or assign electrical and mechanical repairs of equipment and/or facilities
- Investigate and diagnose equipment issues
- Ordering of parts
- Interface closely with vendors (raw materials, service contractors, custom machinery suppliers and equipment vendors)
- Manages business relationships with external contractors. Cost-effectively utilize contractors to supplement team skills and key services, including grounds maintenance, HVAC, and fire systems.
- Responsible for interviewing, onboarding, training, managing, and coaching employees; setting job expectations, monitoring performance, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Identify skill gaps and implement training plans to enhance team performance.
- May assist in providing technical training in manufacturing techniques, methods and processes to manufacturing teams.
- Identify critical process equipment and develop equipment-specific preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency
- Makes sure all departmental documentation, including building plans and related documentation, is properly maintained.
- Establish and maintain SOPs to keep the facility ready for customer, employee, and governmental inspections.
Safety:
- Complies with all safety regulations; maintains a safe work environment at all times.
- Adheres to always wearing the proper PPE/Safety equipment.
- Understands and complies with all written safety, health, and environmental procedures.
- Attends all required scheduled Health, Safety and Environmental training sessions.
- Participates in required Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and programs.
- Perform required administrative functions related to Health, Safety and Environmental functions such as completing forms, checklists, and log sheets.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years’ directly related experience, including facilities/maintenance/project management within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience working with CMMS software (Rex, Blue Mountain, Maximo, etc.)
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- Ability to read, interpret and understand mechanical, architectural, electrical and plumbing drawings and specifications.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal skills – ability to interface and communicate/collaborate at all levels internally and externally.
- Must be resourceful and have the ability to work with little to no supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make quick sound, independent decisions. Must be self-directed and self-motivated.
- Highly collaborative and proactive with continuous improvement mindset.
- Able to manage under pressure, meet deadlines, effectively prioritize workload. Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timetables.

Desired Skills:
- Familiarity or experience with scale-up and plant introduction of chemical processes.
- Plant troubleshooting.
- Lean Six Sigma.
- Knowledgeable with OSHA compliance, waste disposal handling and hazardous response.
- Knowledgeable with chemical and/or polymer processing.
- Knowledge of utility systems and overall plant operations.
Educations/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – preferably mechanical but will consider related disciplines.

- Physical Demands: Employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; kneel and climb. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 40 pounds
- Work Environment: This position requires one to work both in an office environment and manufacturing facility. There is a moderate level of noise, heat, cold, dust, dirt and fumes. Employee frequently works near moving mechanical equipment and chemicals. Employee will be exposed to varying temperatures.
