Shift Hours: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm - On-call rotation
Pay Range: $21.62 - 24.02/hour: Pay is calculated based upon specific work experiences in addition to meeting the base qualifications for the role.

Job Summary:
This position is responsible for assisting and providing maintenance duties for all facilities assigned under the direction of the immediate Supervisor. This position also operates as a coach, mentor, and lead for the maintenance team and assigns jobs and tasks given to them by the immediate Supervisor. This position fills in for the Facilities Director during absence and assists in providing on-call support.
Our Minimum Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma / GED / HSE
- Valid Missouri Class E Driver’s License (or Class D for IL), proof of continuous auto insurance, and a satisfactory driving record
- Minimum of 5 years of verifiable experience leading a team of 10+ in a fast paced environment that is driven by a sense of urgency.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work under minimal supervision.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior maintenance experience to include basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Inside and Outdoor work is required with this position
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders to include roofs.
Your Responsibilities:
- Maintenance: You would be responsible for working on the various maintenance projects across our operations. This can include routine, emergent, and special maintenance projects dependent upon the situation. Some days this could be replacing lighting ballasts, or identifying and fixing leaks, HVAC maintenance, Electrical work, apartment inspections, repairing drywall, painting, cleaning walk ways during bad weather, pickup and delivery, some vehicle maintenance, and other duties as required. No two days are exactly the same. As well, as some custodial work.
- Leadership Responsibilities: Responsible for providing daily oversight and support to the maintenance crew, as well as participating in and leading the daily maintenance tasks across the agency catchment area. This position will act as a coach and mentor to the maintenance team through example in daily tasks, providing guidance to the team, and taking the initiative to ensure task assignments are completed to the agency's standards.
- Facilities Audit: You will audit and file the receipts of the maintenance personnel and present them to the facilities director for the final evaluation, as well as monitor the maintenance expenses and activities in UpKeep.
- Development: Work with Maintenance Supervisor to develop and implement maintenance schedule for Cape Girardeau Offices, regional offices, PSRs, and Group Homes.
- Communication: Communicating the needs of our facilities is an important piece to this role. You would be responsible for letting your director Supervisor know what is going on with a facility, any issues that needs to be addressed, and communicating needs to the rest of the team. This position would also require great communication skills with other agency staff as well.
- Travel: This position does require you to travel between our five-county catchment area. However, the center does have maintenance vans and vehicles for our crew to utilize.
What you already know:
- You know how to preform general maintenance tasks. This can be around the house, or from working at a previous job. You’re not scared of power tools or getting your hands dirty.
- How to be a problem solver. You can look at an issue and generally work towards a solution, or at the very least reach out for some additional help.
- How to be a team player. Typically, you would be working with a fellow team member on the various jobs, so being a team player and having great communication skills is a must
- How to take direction. Our Maintenance team has a wide variety of skill sets and specialties, being able to learn and take direction from your fellow co-workers and Team Lead is an important part of this position.
How Success is Measured:
- Time Management: Staff handles maintenance requests in a timely fashion.
- Detail Orientation: Ensures work is done in a detailed and effective matter. Also includes seeing needed repairs and notifying the appropriate channels before the issue becomes a major problem. Also requires the ability to effectively document, review, and analyze expenses that are submitted for work orders.
- Team Based Approach: Working well with fellow team members and is courteous to other staff and clients.
- Communication: Asks questions or for clarification when needed. Communicates effectively with co-workers, team leader, and supervisor.
