About the Job
TOPS has partnered with a local manufacturing company looking to add an maintenance technician to its second shift operations.
This position will involve working as part of a maintenance team performing both preventative maintenance and troubleshooting break downs and performing repair activities. We are looking for a multicraft maintenance technician with the ability to do both mechanical and electrical maintenance work.
Our client does have a strong core group of maintenance technicians that will be able to provide on the job training to help the selected candidate learn news skills and further their maintenance knowledge and abilities.
Job Details:
Contract to hire position
Steady daylight shift position: Hours: 2:30pm to 11pm
Monday through Friday schedule – overtime is available
Starting pay rate: $23+ per hour
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring and electrical components of machinery and equipment. Understand the difference between three phase and single-phase alternating current.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
- Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment or programmable controllers.
- Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
- Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Operate, repair and maintains overhead cranes, fork trucks and prime mover.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1 year of related work experience performing maintenance activities on production/ manufacturing equipment and manufacturing facilities. or associates degree in related field
- Ability to read and interpret blue prints and machine schematics, both electrically and mechanically.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for prolonged periods.
- Frequent bending, crawling, climbing, lifting activities
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs.
