We are currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to contribute to the success of our customers by ensuring that Production Equipment is maintained in a way that maximizes production line "up-time".
Key Job Accountabilities:
1. Respond to maintenance requests and conduct routine maintenance so that production equipment reliably achieves production goals.
- Conduct changeovers and equipment start-ups efficiently to meet or exceed production standards
- Thoroughly test equipment after repairs, changeovers or extended downtime to ensure it's ready to run without issues at start-up
- Minimize temporary "stop-gap" measures as a means of keeping lines and equipment operating
- Order replacement parts proactively to minimize emergency maintenance downtime
- Request work orders as needed to maintain optimal equipment uptime
- Measure and analyze "downtime" data, then debrief with relevant stakeholders to improve future outcomes
- Respond to all internal customer requests, prioritizing production as the primary internal customer
2. Diligently execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities and continuously seek opportunities for improvement, ensuring production equipment consistently meets or exceeds established performance goals.
- Execute preventive maintenance (PM) tasks in a timely, disciplined manner to proactively prevent future downtime
- Thoroughly follow up on findings from PM tasks and line work to continually enhance equipment reliability
- Actively contribute knowledge gained through PM task completion to refine the overall PM planning process, optimizing equipment uptime and efficiency
- Ensure changes to schedules, material availability, and line operations do not hinder the completion of scheduled PM activities
- Collaborate to improve equipment design, maximizing throughput while minimizing non-value-added labor
3. Maintain and repair as needed electronic systems and equipment used in industrial manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot and replace electronic systems (e.g., fuses, VFDs, contacts, sensors, breakers). Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic, water, sanitation, thermal, and hydraulic systems.
- Ensure all connections, defective components, electronic control systems and mechanical equipment are maintained.
- Ensure problems are corrected through conducting diagnostic tests using HMI and/or multi-meters. Maintenance should be completed using hand tools and electronic equipment.
4. Administration of the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring system reliability and accuracy
- Enter completed work orders and PMs into the CMMS.
- Assign parts to assets in work orders.
- Order and restock parts using the CMMS.
- Other CMMS duties as assigned.
5. Maintain safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of equipment and maintenance areas.
- Must administer lock-out tag-out (LOTO) and follow cGMP rules.
- Must keep work areas clean and well organized using the 55 methodology.
- This position requires the ability to identify and correct safety issues for the benefit of all employees.
6. Understand and maintain a culture of "lean action" within the department so that we live and execute lean better than any organization.
- Implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste throughout the department. Apply and utilize "lean tools" to permanently implement improvements.
- Institutionalize 5S in all aspects of the department. (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain).
7. Other work as assigned
Education and Experience
- 5 or more years of mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) OR
- 3 or more years' experience with a two-year Associate's degree (A.A.)/certification in industrial electronics or maintenance,.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Proficient in using processes and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of production
- Able to maintain and grow technical knowledge and expertise.
- Accurate, precise, and attentive to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows XP through Windows 8, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Understands or capable of learning the company's MRP software and CMMS
- Able to perform machining (e.g., lathe, milling machine), fabricating & welding (including stainless steel), and plumbing
- Able to read and understand electrical schematics, AutoCAD drawings, P&ID diagrams, and technical drawings,
- Knowledge of 3 phase AC, DC, and PLC controls.
