JOB SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Plant Maintenance Technician will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery. Responsible for performing mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems with equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs, and assembles equipment. Uses tests and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Normally receives general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments. This position will deal with a high level of stress as they troubleshoot and repair the equipment under specific time constraints. Day Shift position.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines as noted in the equipment manufacturer’s guidelines
- Able to visually inspect and test machinery to detect equipment malfunctions
- Thoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessary
- Oils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance
- Records and reports of damaged, worn, or broken parts
- Orders and installs replacement parts for machines
- Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines
- Repairs broken machines quickly and efficiently
- Prepares reports documenting work performed
- Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies
- Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machines
- Collaborates with production manager or plant engineers regarding new products being added and modifications that will be required
- Makes necessary modifications and implements test runs; confers with production managers regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as required
- Interact with the maintenance and production teams to identify the root cause of equipment failures and downtime events.
- Diagnose problems and repair defective machines and equipment with new or repaired parts, following the specifications set forth in manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Perform Root Case Analysis, develop recommendations, and implement solutions and procedures for permanent elimination of operational issues
- Solve problems related to equipment, tooling, process, & quality, and document problem-solving efforts
- Provide technical support for raw materials and construction methods associated with all assigned product lines
- Communicate equipment problems to operations staff as needed
- Set up and break-down Food Processing equipment as required
- Building maintenance repairs and upkeep (plumbing repairs, blocked drains, changing lamps & ballasts, light remodeling, etc.)
- Complete other duties as assigned
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Able to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form
- Know, understand, and comply with the company’s safety and health goals and its objectives
- Assist the company in achieving goals by participating in the safety program
- Demonstrate proper operation of equipment and tools as needed to ensure employee safety and compliance of all OSHA guidelines
- Provide management with a written report of unsafe conditions or unsafe acts as needed
- Report all accidents, injuries, or illnesses immediately Perform other duties assigned
- Troubleshooting: Able to determine causes of operating errors and decide on the most effective and efficient course of action to repair
- Mechanical Ability: Must be able to read and understand all electrical and mechanical schematic and diagrams
- Repairing: Ability to work on equipment or systems using various types of hand tools, measuring, and testing instruments, etc.
- Equipment Maintenance: Able to perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and determine the proper type of corrective maintenance needed
- Tool Use and Organization: Maintain tools and maintenance equipment in working order and maintenance room and work areas in neat condition
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years’ experience in Maintenance in a production environment (food manufacturing preferred)
- 3+ years’ experience with industrial electrical
- 1-year experience with boiler equipment
- Knowledge in food processing and/or chemical processing, GMPs, clean design, etc.
- Familiarity with batch and continuous processing including filtration techniques, extraction and/or product packaging
- Familiarity with food safety programs like SQF, Kosher, etc.
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have knowledge of single and three phases electric, AC, DC high and low voltages
- Ability to work off shift, and weekends as needed
- Basic Tools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel crouch, climb, use ladders, and perform various types of manual labor
- Occasionally, the employee may be required to lift to up 75 pounds
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat and cold temperatures and sometimes wet conditions
