Within Global Impact, the Sustainability & Social Impact team oversees McDonald’s enterprise social and environmental impact strategies, goals, and commitment to transparency, partnering with teams around McDonald’s and beyond to drive responsible growth, industry-wide transformation, risk mitigation and resiliency for our System and communities. Together with our partners, we take a forward-looking and collaborative approach in responding to the latest science and industry trends, listening to the advice and expectations of key stakeholders, and staying in line with evolving regulation. This includes:
- Managing enterprise strategies and partnerships related to our people and communities - advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) for key stakeholders internally and externally; protecting and respecting human rights; and taking care of our communities through engagement, volunteering and philanthropy, especially in times of need.
- Managing enterprise strategies and partnerships related to our food and planet impact - nutrition and choice across the menu; responsible sourcing practices; how we design and operate restaurants for a more sustainable customer and employee experience; and how we drive circularity, climate action, water stewardship and nature-based solutions to ensure the long-term resiliency of our communities and the ecosystems we depend on.
- Measuring and communicating progress transparently on key impact metrics and business insights related to priority Environmental, Social and Governance (“ESG”) issues, risks and growth opportunities.
High-Level Job Summary
The Senior Manager of Impact Reporting will lead McDonald’s reporting on priority environmental, social and governance issues through our global Purpose & Impact reporting suite and support in preparing the business to comply with ESG reporting regulations. This position will work closely with the Director, ESG Governance & Reporting and the Director, ESG Transformation.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage strategy and timely delivery of McDonald’s annual Purpose & Impact (ESG) voluntary, non-regulated reporting, and related internal and external engagements.
- Includes managing reporting strategy, design, agency partners and internal processes to deliver holistic purpose, impact & ESG content for owned, voluntary reporting channels (e.g Purpose & Impact website, PDF reports) in consideration of relevant 3rd party benchmarks (e.g. ISSB/SASB, TCFD, CDP, MSCI, ISS, SustainAlytics, Bloomberg GEI, UNGPRF, etc.)
- Partner with social and environmental Impact leads and market teams around the business to assess and manage qualitative and quantitative reporting needs for enterprise reporting suite, and design and deliver issue-specific reports and snapshots, when relevant (e.g. DEI, Climate Risk & Resiliency)
- With Investor Relations and Corporate Secretary’s Office, and supported by Supervisor - Impact Reporting, review and approve enterprise responses to ESG & Impact-related shareholder inquiries and proposals.
- Support market teams in identifying and delivering local voluntary Impact/ESG reporting, where relevant as part of holistic local Impact plans.
- Contribute to cross-functional team accountable for preparing business to comply with ESG reporting regulations.
- Support in delivering on key actions and milestones outlined in roadmaps that operationalize One McDonald’s Way approach to preparing for regulatory reporting requirements (i.e. gap assessments against regulatory requirements, engagement with expected Disclosure Owners and determining recommended disclosures/content plan for 2026 CSRD Report)
- Account for full scope of disclosure-related readiness milestones across CSRD, EUDR, CS3D, SEC and CA and balance bandwidth/capacity of partner teams across the business.
- Support market/country teams in operationalizing local ESG governance and provide targeted oversight of key regulatory reports produced by markets to ensure consistency and alignment with global ESG regulated reports.
- Experience implementing and project managing corporate sustainability-, impact-, or ESG-related reporting in-house, with deep understanding of forward-looking ESG transparency and regulatory trends.
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and business-minded communicator with a passion for ESG impact and continuous learning mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify ESG opportunities and risks, and to partner with the right teams internally to find appropriate solutions considering evolving ESG landscape, innovations, stakeholder expectations, regulation and other macro trends.
- Collaborative relationship-builder with strong project management track record capable of expertly facilitating cross-functional alignment.
- Values-driven and inclusive leader with experience fostering collaborative teams and accountability - both direct and indirect- in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Strong desire to work in a dynamic corporate environment, across leadership levels and with multiple cross-functional teams around the world.
- Exceptional written, verbal and influencing communication skills, professionalism, flexibility, and personability.
- Preference for 6-8 years of experience in corporate strategy, finance, regulatory affairs, public policy, sustainability, ESG, or a related discipline
