POSITION SUMMARY
The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering team while also overseeing the design, development, and maintenance of mechanical systems and equipment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and components.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure successful project execution.
- Develop and implement engineering standards, best practices, and design guidelines.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work and coordinate projects with the machine shop, fabrication shop, outside contractors and vendors.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and failure analyses to identify and mitigate potential issues.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to mechanical engineering.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, with 2+ years in a leadership or management role.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.
