As a Manager, Procurement in Managed Transportation at RXO, you’ll oversee all procurement functions, including the implementation and growth of category management strategies across various segments of transportation, formalize supplier relationships to drive reliability and negotiate large- and small-scale pricing agreements with immediate impact to the business. You will also collaborate directly with customers, operations managers and account managers to create procurement solutions that meet service and cost expectations. What your day-to-day will look like:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather procurement requirements and facilitate the procurement process to meet business needs promptly
- Monitor procurement metrics and KPIs to identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization
- Conduct RFQs and RFPs and analyze rates, capability and experience for determining supplier selections; make decisions while remaining compliant with the overall sourcing strategy
- Negotiate rates proficiently and analyze market prices to secure the most cost-effective solutions for our customer
- Create, handle and maintain supplier benchmark pricing in support of new customer opportunities and organizational cost studies
- Perform activities related to onboarding new suppliers into the network
- Manage and oversee all carrier contracts for customer
- Compile and interpret performance metrics for meetings with customers and suppliers, addressing operational issues as required; present all RFQ and RFQ results to customer at the Manager and Director level
- Develop strategic transportation solutions for the customer
- Research and leverage data to ascertain changes, anomalies or new opportunities within the network
- Ensure departmental records are maintained in accordance with established policies, procedures and audit guidelines
- Educate the network on the Temperature Control mode of transportation and advocate for its success operationally
What you’ll need to excel:
At a minimum, you’ll need:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
- 5 years of experience in procurement, with a specific focus on managing the Purchase-to-Pay process and supplier relationships with demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers
It’d be great if you also have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field or equivalent related work/military experience
- Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM)
- Experience in using Coupa or other procurement platforms to support procurement activities
- Solid experience with all modes of transportation and logistics and understanding of market seasonality
- Experience with Load board and freight management platforms, including One Network, DAT and Freight Waves Sonar
- Understanding of and experience with various rate structures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to analyze procurement data, identify trends and make data-driven decisions
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Solid experience with and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Access)
- Proficiency in using data analysis tools
- Self-motivated work style; experience working well with minimal direct supervision or in a team environment; comfortable consulting with team members and management as needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Availability to travel 5-10% of the time
