Job Description
Position Overview
As a Manager, Renewable Electrical Engineering, you will be responsible for managing junior engineers in the electrical engineering group, as well as lead the construction of cutting-edge onshore renewable energy projects (wind, solar and energy storage). You will be primarily responsible for managing other engineers who lead conceptual project designs and the selected engineering firms in order to complete final detailed designs for projects to be built. The electrical systems of these projects utilize inverter-based wind and solar generators.
You will lead a hardworking team of electrical engineers that share a passion for renewable energy and contributing to the design of the technologies behind creating a sustainable world.
Responsibilities:
Electrical Engineering Group Responsibilities
Manage up to 2 or 3junior engineers –provideguidance on issues faced during engineering design, construction and placed in service ofprojects
Manageproject specific construction, engineering, and equipmentspecifications
Reviewelectrical energycalculations
Assistin the development of new projects by analyzing conceptual designs and RFQ specifications.
Coordinate with operations engineeringwhen reviewingdesigns
Maintainup-to-date knowledge of industry technology
Engineering DesignManagement
Reviewconceptual project designs thatcomply withall critical owner and interconnectionrequirements
Conductthoroughdesignreviews of electrical drawings:DC solar,ACcollection systemfor wind and solar,substation, andtransmissionline
Define the scope of all required electrical system studies and review results for accuracy andcompliance
Trackdesign schedules, update all stakeholders,and ensurethat criticaldeadlines are met
Support the purchasing of this equipment and manage suppliers throughout the engineering and commissioning process.
Construction Support
Monitor construction progress both remotely and via on-site inspections and support resolution of any field issues.
Attendon-site meetings with electrical construction contractors and in person coordination meetings with interconnection utilities.
Required skills:
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related degree.
- Knowledge of power systems, ideally acquired through specific coursework, job experience, and internships
- 4+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience managing a diverse team
- Experience with HV/MV electrical infrastructure (substations/switchyards, distribution systems, transmission lines, transformers.) and construction of such infrastructure
- Ability to concurrently coordinate and manage multiple projects with various teams
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Some travel required (up to 25%)
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or Professional Engineering license
- Experience managing and building multi-disciplined engineering teams
- Experience with HV/MV electrical equipment for use in the Renewable Energy field
- Practical experience in construction of HV electrical systems and associated Renewable Energy construction
