The Risk Advisory Manager has primary responsibility of oversight over the Risk Advisory engagement work plans. As a leader of the firm, the Risk Advisory Manager will demonstrate excellent project management skills, client service, and positive coaching to the team members in developing technical and professional competency.
Core Responsibilities:
- Have an in-depth understanding of the COSO environment and appropriately apply and teach the Firm's approach to risk assessment, testing and reporting on all risk advisory projects.
- Ability to evaluate misstatements/exceptions brought to light by engagement team members to determine significance, develop recommendations, if needed, and assist Engagement Director or Partner report those findings and recommendations to the client both verbally and written.
- Review internal control memos prepared by engagement team members, ensuring COSO standards are applied appropriately. Provide detailed review comments to preparer(s).
- Delegate and review internal control testing, ensuring team members have a detailed understanding of the steps required to be performed and what would constitute a misstatement/finding.
- Lead complex update client meetings and/or calls independently in accordance with the project plan.
- In-depth understanding of engagement requirements and client's business. Responsible for knowledge sharing of client's business to engagement team.
- Support Firm initiatives and development opportunities.
- Responsible for teaching and developing the team during client engagements.
- Have an understanding of resource needs and engagement economics.
- Assist in other duties and projects as assigned.
- Assist Directors and/or engagement partners in developing budget plans, communicate those budgets to the engagement team and monitor team progress.
- Take ownership of the engagement while managing upward and downward expectations to ensure deadlines are met and project stays on budget.
- Lead multiple engagement teams simultaneously to further the Firm's goals and objectives.
- Timely completion of project schedules ensuring the appropriate amount of resources are dedicated to individual projects. Continuous monitoring of resource allocation to avoid over-scheduling individual team members.
- Ensure timely completion of periodic invoices of projects. Manage engagement profit margin through client invoice process ensuring expectations are aligned between client and internal team.
- Accepts responsibility for billable hours and remains productive in times of reduced client workload. Acts as a business owner to maximize productivity, while being critical of hours charged.
- Manage client expectations of deadlines including being proactive and responsive to their needs in a timely manner.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of the COSO Framework and ITGC expertise.
- Strong Internal Controls, SOX, SOC1, SOC2 knowledge.
- Experience working with Insurance industry clients preferred not limited to Reinsurance and Life Insurance.
- Thrives in an environment of changing priorities.
- Ability to work towards enhancing technical and project management skills through on the job feedback and performance evaluations.
- Interpersonal skills to interact in a team environment and foster client relationships.
- Above average written and verbal communication skills.
- Prepare slides and present on basic risk topics for sponsored internal trainings.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with an emphasis on Excel skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent required.
- CPA or awaiting licensure (all four parts passed), CISA or CIA.
- 5+ years of relative experience; at least 1 in public accounting or professional services highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift items up to 30 pounds at times.
- Work a Hybrid schedule
