Job Summary:
Provides leadership and direction for the materials functions to meet operational requirements in a safe and timely manner, while maximizing service levels and optimizing cost.
Responsibilities:
Communicate with customers on a regular basis to understand customer needs
Manage inventory and third party service providers (e.g., cycle counts, stocking levels, obsolescence, warranty, quality, and packaging) to provide material availability and service to the customer
Manage the order process, forecasting inventory needs, requisitioning, order placement, and scheduling delivery
Manage warehousing and other storage requirements to optimize safety, good housekeeping, efficiency, and space
Plan materials requirement for program work, running repair maintenance, outside parties, and modifications
Ensure delivery and handling of material by appropriate parties (i.e., operations, and third party contractors) to meet operational requirements
Ensure optimal transportation and logistics for delivery of product and services to the customer
Improve the work processes and systems to include maximizing opportunities to automate the work
Work as a team member to enhance the culture in a positive manner
Communicate safety awareness, implement safety programs and training, and enforce rules that ensure a safe work environment
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in related field or a minimum of 7 years related purchasing experience, preferably in the rail
3 or more years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Basic Warehousing
Strong Communication Skills
Excellent Organizational and project management skills
Strong team player who can effectively influence from within the team
Knowledge and Skills
Advanced MS Excel, Access, and Power Point Skills
Knowledge of financial concepts and procedures

Job Requirements
Up to 15% travel may be required.
The applicant selected for this position will be required to successfully complete a background check and physical including a drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position.
