Manager of Store Systems and Technology Operations - Burlington Stores

As Manager of Store Systems and Technology Operations here at Burlington, you own the roadmap for front-of-house (FOH) or back-of-house (BOH) technology systems and processes (as assigned).  This comprehensive scope spans all phases from concept origination through technology product development, execution, and ongoing maintenance/refinement, in close collaboration with IT and vendor partners.  This role, a key player in Burlington’s home office and field, identifies technology needs and tools to bolster store operations in more than 1,000 stores across the U.S. The Manager will work hand in hand with IT to develop tools that precisely meet store needs and requirements, encompassing hardware, TC52/Handheld applications, Point-of-Sale systems, troubleshooting, training, resolving field escalations, and more.  

Additional scope includes store equipment, supplies, and related procedures – the tools for stores to deliver outstanding customer experience and efficient product operations.  This may include operating procedure development, process guides, equipment right-sizing, testing, and process innovation. 

The ideal candidate for this role will be a problem solver, collaborator, people leader, and communicator with a unique blend of experience in store operations and technology at national-scale retailers. A background in software product management will be a significant advantage, underlining the exclusivity and desirability of this position.

A Day In The Life

• Technology and tools: In partnership with Store Operations & IT, develop and execute store systems roadmap in support of store operations strategy. Define business requirements for in-store tools across all areas of customer and associate experience. Oversee new technology introductions and drive adoption.
• Strategy: Assess periodically and align with field leaders and Store Operations on store technology and equipment needs to inform system and tool strategy. Set standards, processes, and tools for in-scope areas to deliver step improvements in efficiency while maintaining quality of outputs and store team experiences. Create and implement a multi-year roadmap for systems and tools from exploration through to development, testing and scaling.
• Product operations: Lead execution of product operations in stores to achieve operational efficiency goals. Define processes and tools to receive product and present to the sales floor across all back-of-the-house functions. Manage process and tool improvements, and other initiatives.
• People development: As applicable, train, coach, and performance manage teams within the function and mentor individuals in related functions. Establish internal processes to foster professional growth and capability development to create a high-performing organization.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Engage closely with IT, Field, Finance, and other functions to deliver on objectives, garner support for programs, and coordinate cross-functional execution of initiatives in the Stores organization.

To Be Successful You Should Have

• BA. or equivalent in operations, engineering, finance or related quantitative field
• MBA or other advanced degree preferred
• 5 years of experience in technology product management
• 3 years of experience in retail a plus (store operations and/or store systems)
• 2 years of people management a plus
• Proven ability to drive change in stores at national scale retail
• Experience in product management of technology solutions in partnership with or within IT organizations
• Proficiency in writing business requirements for complex custom systems
• Track record of launching and driving adoption of process changes and tech tools at comparable scale
• Demonstrated problem solving, technology management, and communication skills
