Job Summary:The BDO National Tax Office (NTO) Advisory practice provides technical leadership and support to firm client service professionals and alliance firms on tax matters, new legislation and Treasury guidance, articles on key tax issues and working with marketing and Tax quality control to ensure high level of information that is disseminated internally and externally.  The Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, Partnership Tax will collaborate amongst NTO professionals and with tax leadership to drive communication efficiencies.  A Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, Partnership Tax is responsible for developing standardized partnership technology to service and advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and various partnership specific items including but not limited to section 704(b) and taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustment calculations and Tax Receivable Agreement (TRA) calculations
In this role the Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, Partnership Tax will apply their knowledge and experience to understand potential partnership taxation issues and assist in the preparation of partnership specific computations
The Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, Partnership Tax is a critical member of the NTO Partnerships leadership team and actively participates in the marketing and business development of the group
In addition, the Tax Managing Director, NTO-A, Partnership Tax develops and drives process improvement and team-building initiatives, maintains client relationships, and acts as a source of guidance to other team members.Job Duties:Tax SpecializationArchitects comprehensive solutions that address all facets of developing new business capabilities a) Strategy, b) Organization/ People, c) Processes/Controls, d) Technology/Enabling Tools Leverages deep business domain expertise and understanding of inner workings of business functions to design customized technology and business solutionsMaintains and develops an in-depth understanding of the technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxationMay organize and conduct, or participate in conducting effective external CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists, at a minimum of once per yearResearchIdentifies when research is needed; clearly and concisely frames issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely reports the analysisIdentifies complex issues to be researched by engagement team and provides research methodology for efficient research processTrains associates, senior associates, and managers on research skills and helps to appropriately frame tax issues for analysisInvolves firm specialists, as appropriateTax ConsultingAssists with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxesApplies a combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutionsMaximizes client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing riskImplements applicable Firm strategiesManages client expectationsStrategy DevelopmentIntroduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients, the Firm, or Firm personnel, e.g., by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefitsResearches and implements tax strategies, including experimentation with promising new strategies and ideasConsistently makes suggestions as to how previous work products or approaches can be improvedMay lead marketing campaigns, if applicable to rolePresents complex strategies to clients and prospective clientsStrengthening Our FirmActively participates in office, regional, and national client service effortsActively participates in national, regional, Firm, and Alliance meetings and supports related activitiesActively participates in national Industry initiativesEnsures the national business line conforms with the Firm’s technical standards by examining office review reports from the Director of Quality Control and Technical advisorsRisk ManagementDisplays appropriate knowledge of firm regulations and guidelines as stated in the firm’s business line quality control manuals Provides on-the-job trainingPuts the interests of the Firm above the interests of a client when resolving issuesEngages BDO technical, tax, consulting, valuation, and other professionals to resolve client issuesOther duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervises associates, senior associates, and managers on all projectsReviews work prepared by associates, senior associates, and managers and provides review commentsTrains associates, senior associate, and managers on how to use all current software toolsActs as a career advisor to associates, senior associates, and managersSchedules and manages workload of associates, senior associates, and managersProvides verbal and written performance feedback to associates, senior associates, and managersQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Education:Bachelor’s Degree, required; focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics, preferredMaster’s Degree in Accountancy or Taxation, preferredExperience:Ten (10) or more years of prior relevant technology or tax systems experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting/professional services experience, requiredSpecialized partnership experience, requiredPrior supervisory experience, required Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferredLicense/Certifications:CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
