About the Job
This position is responsible for developing cost effective manufacturing operation for an assigned product area.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Reviews product design and makes appropriate recommendations of design changes to optimize DFM.
- Develops jigs, tools, fixtures and methods for efficient fabrication and assembly.
- Documents new methods and follows through to assure efficient implementation to the assigned production.
- Communicates with customers on manufacturing issues.
- Manages manufacturing improvement projects.
- Capital AR generation and ownership
- Capital project mgmt. And oversight
- Capital implementation and release to manufacturing
- Updates existing process specifications and writes new ones as needed.
- Participates in continuous improvement efforts by identifying systematic problems and acting upon.
- May supervise engineering technicians and or operators.
- Department metric ownership
- Tracking and driving improvements in KPI (metrics)
- Weekly and Monthly data –RMA, Rework Data, Process weaknesses
- Identifying and tracking key variables
- Presenting data to Assembly Yield Committee
- Driving improvement projects/actions to positively affect metrics (KPIs) - Understanding R/C analysis and improvement processes.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university;three - five years related experience in Mechanical Engineering and/or training;or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with interconnection technology and PCB assembly.
- Knowledgeable in the Mil/Aero market.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter, independent, able to work with limited supervision, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity or prior experience with industry specifications preferred (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, MIL-A-28870, IPC-CC-830, etc.).
- Experience designing manufacturing tooling and jigs.
- Experience with process characterization (CpK) and implementation of statistical control methods to maintain process control.
- Experience using 3D modeling tool - AutoCAD and Pro E familiarization are a plus.
- Experienced with manufacturing processes and technologies such as SMT and Through Hole soldering, mechanical press fit, conformal coating, and encapsulation.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
- Experienced with NPI techniques.
- U.S Citizen required to support government contracts and programs.
- Must have strong computer knowledge- MS Office-Word, Excel and Outlook.
