The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for supporting key products within 3M's building & construction markets. This individual will be responsible for raw material through finished goods of a product platform and will be expected to drive results in EHS, Quality, Service, and Cost performance within the assigned products.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Development and implementation of improvements related to safety, quality, service, and cost (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
• Driving cost and productivity improvements by leading Continuous Improvement projects with a variety of toolsets, including standard work development, tier reviews, kaizens, etc.
• Development and implementation of cross-functional projects, plans, and programs in support of business and strategic plans new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement using Continuous Improvement tools
• Proactively communicates project direction and status to appropriate personnel
• Engagement and involvement in daily operations to meet service targets, including direction/support of maintenance and division engineering activities
• Realize growth opportunities by guiding new product introduction efforts and completing experimental runs
• Representing 3M Knoxville during internal and external customer interactions and audits

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
• One (1) year of combined engineering and/or manufacturing experience (internship/co-op experience applies) in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Cross functional team contributions and leadership skills
• Experience with leading DMAIC Six Sigma projects – Green Belt or Black Belt Certified
• Experience with developing and implementing Lean Systems and Standard Work
• 2+ years Engineering or Manufacturing experience
• Solid analytical and statistical skills
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills, both written & oral

Work location:

• Knoxville, Iowa

Travel: May include up to 5%-15% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $95,825 - $117,120, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
