Job Description:
The Senior Electrical Engineer uses their hardware and system engineering experience to lead the system analysis of the Wi-Tronix IoT hardware product platforms to identify opportunities and drive improvement. Also responsible in improving the automated test process to make it more efficient and optimized.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
• BS or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• 10+ years’ relevant experience in computer system and the like (both HW and software)
• Hardware experience is crucial with a working knowledge of software design
o Electrical: microcontroller programming, power systems, serial communications protocols, modems, Electrical Circuit design, printed circuit board assembly
• Using programming languages such as SQL, C, C++, C#
• Familiarity with communication protocols including Ethernet, RS-232, RS485 and CAN
• Experience with use of digital hardware analysis tools – Oscilloscopes and Logic Analyzers
• Technology enthusiast demonstrated through work experience, hobbies, and/or education
CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION / CRITICAL ELEMENT
1. Troubleshooting and Product Sustainability (70%)
• Analyzing legacy product test failures identifying real rootcause and drive improvement whether with internal system engineering team or with supplier in coordination with quality team. This is to drive Yield Improvement.
• Analyzing legacy product returns (RMA) identifying real rootcause and drive improvement whether with internal system engineering team or with supplier in coordination with quality team. This is to reduce out of box failures and returns in general.
• Developing standard fixes for legacy products, supporting production through providing guidance and direction to ensure production team delivers high quality products.
• Updating Troubleshooting tree to aid technicians in production and RMA on basic things to do on a certain identified failures before it goes to engineers.
2. Automated Testing optimization (20%)
• Understand the current test and identify and implement improvements working with test engineers and technicians to drive efficiency and reduce false failures or test result waivers.
3. Team Mentorship (10%)
• Mentor production and RMA technicians and leads in best practices, approaches and processes.
• Collaborate with PD system engineering for identified improvement items to be captured on future NPIs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
• Ability to use hand tools, and fine motor control ability to include pinching and twisting
• Ability to visually identify subject matter
• Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
• Ability to safely lift a minimum of 30lbs without assistance
• Working conditions as found in a typical office location
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
