Job Summary:
Willis Custom Yachts Marine Electricians are responsible for installing, inspecting, repairing, and replacing electrical components and wiring. They will also be responsible for the repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment on board vessels.
Responsibilities:
- Repair or replace wiring equipment or fixtures.
- Examine electrical system of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to confirm compatibility and safety of system.
- Use different types of tools and equipment including power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, testing equipment, oscilloscopes, ammeters, ohmmeters, voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and check lamps.
- Diagnose faulty systems, apparatus, and parts to find the reason for a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and parts to identify hazards, defects and the necessity for adjustment or repair, and to confirm compliance with codes.
- Follow blueprints to determine the placement of wiring and equipment and to confirm compliance of assembly and safety codes.
- Place passage pipes and tubing within selected partitions, walls, or alternative hidden areas and pull insulated wires and cables through the passage to finish circuits between boxes.
- Work on the installation of ground leads and connect power cables to equipment.
- Install and repair marine electrical (AC/DC) and electronic systems.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of marine electrical experience.
- Understand single phase and three phase electrical theory.
- Understand and have a working knowledge of European distribution systems.
- Must be able to use electrical test meters, hand crimpers, heavy crimpers, soldering tools and power tools.
- Must be able to read and follow electrical diagrams and schematics.
- Must be knowledgeable of marine electrical standards, specifically ABYC.
- Must be knowledgeable of relevant marine class societies and rules such as ABS, Lloyds, BV, RINA.
- Able to write technical reports and field notes.
