Position Summary:
The Material Handler/Production Assistant is responsible for production support of standard product and safe work areas. Responsibilities may include recycle/grinder, packaging, warehouse, material handling, offline cutting table, interleaving, and any support the areas may need. This role will be a rotating shift position. Duties may include (not limited to):
Responsibilities:
- Package and handle standard quality product safely and efficiently
- Packaging of product (including Interleaving and Offline Table)
- Properly recycling and/or scrapping of non-standard product
- Troubleshooting of recycle, warehouse, offline table, and packaging area
- Documentation of necessary records in accordance with procedures
- Update shift logs and making turnover logs
- Performing routine mechanical tasks, minor preventive maintenance, and locking out equipment.
- Issue work notifications, lockout, and prep equipment to maintain equipment and facilities.
- Schedule work, manage overtime and maintain own timecard.
- Capable to assist with loading/unloading trucks with packaging supplies and product inventories.
- Capable of operating various types of mobile equipment such as forklifts, work savers, and yard tractors (warehouse)
- Capable of cycle counting management
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Know and adhere to safety, environmental and housekeeping responsibilities, and rules
- Follow document control and record-keeping policies
- May be required to be a member of the Emergency Response Team
- Capable and willing to work in a High-Performance Work System atmosphere (HPWS)
- Exercise judgment and work independently with others with minimal supervision. Keep supervision informed of issues in the area.
- Perform weekly safety and daily area audits.
- Assist with routine mechanical tasks and minor preventive maintenance such as taking oil samples, replacing pump couplings, repairing leaks, minor hand tool work for adjustments, unplugging process lines, preparing equipment by isolating, purging, cleaning, and locking out equipment.
- Receiving and unloading all film packaging supplies
- Keeping mill room storage filled with all film supplies
- Communicating with the site Supply Coordinator on supply needs
- Recording where supplies are located on trailers and inform warehouse personnel
- Trailer moving
- Loading of retrim products
- Loading of scrape
- Loading of good and broken pallets
- Load crates in need of repair back to supply warehouse
- Fueling refrigeration trailers as needed
- Help with any supply or shipping needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School diploma or equivalent at the time of application
- Valid Driver's License
- Warehouse experience (minimum 6 months)
- Demonstrated computer skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of math, the ability to understand trend charts, and scale reading
- Demonstrated planning and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to self- manage and function as a member of a diverse work team
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, and work at elevated heights. Walk, stand, safely lift 50 pounds, and wear various protective equipment, including donning an acid suit, during daily work schedule
- Ability to use common hand tools
- Load material on trailers
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP (Work notifications, process transactions), MES, Lotus Notes, OneNote, VisiTrak experience helpful
- ERT/EMT volunteer
- Mobile equipment - fork trucks, track mobile, work saver, and yard tractor
- Cycle counting experience
- Inventory management experience
- CDL License or experience driving tractor trailers (CDL not required)
NOTE: The hourly rate for this position is ($19.38) All offers will be contingent upon a written assessment, interviews, negative drug test, and a successful background check, physical fitness, and medical evaluation
