POSITION SUMMARY
The Material Handler operates mobile equipment to load products in and out of the warehouse and onto trucks to meet customer requirements.- This position also works with Production Operators in the Warehouse area to ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are regularly achieved.
ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES
+ In addition to the Material Handler 1 duties listed below, the incumbent also processes materials in SAP for the plant. Keeping segregation of duties in mind, the Material Handler 2 will either be involved in Shipping & Receiving serving as back-up to any Material Handler 1.
+ Serves as a backup to the Warehouse and Shipping Manager along with being able to supervise Inventory counts. Able to perform, document, and assist with Cycle Counts.
+ Outstanding safety and quality performance in all activities.
+ Responsible for the efficient organization of raw materials and the organization and rotation of finished goods.
+ Prepare lines at shift change for the day's production and dumping of all garbage.
+ Unload and receive raw materials and UPS shipments.
+ Ensure finished goods are put away in the proper area, stacked properly and safely.
+ Establishes and maintains the highest degree of housekeeping and 5S (Sorting, Straightening, Shining, Standardizing, Sustaining) in all-- areas.
+ Operate forklift, maintaining safety on the lifts.
+ Complete a pass-down list daily.
+ Participate in and support continuous improvement activities and organizational safety programs.
+ Document work as appropriate and complete special projects as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Follows all safety policies, procedures, and programs; is responsible for individual safety and the safety of others. Participate in Plant & Corporate health & safety programs.
+ Inspects and reports equipment defects, and reports breakdowns of equipment in their work area using a CMMS maintenance system. Immediately addresses equipment deficiencies to maintain like-new equipment standards.
+ Aids other team members as needed.
+ Maintains work area in a professional manner.
+ Required to perform other duties as assigned.
+ Helps create and write standard operating procedures with EHS Champion and Warehouse and Shipping Manager.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
+ High School diploma.
+ Must have an OSHA-approved Forklift operator qualification or be able to obtain one within 1 month. Must maintain Forklift operator qualification.
+ 1 year of previous production manufacturing experience.
+ Knowledge of shipping and receiving methods, warehouse, and inventory management.
+ Manual dexterity is required for operating machinery and computers.
+ Must possess adaptability, customer and partner focus as well as good communication and organizational skills.
+ Ability to perform job duties, display a can-do attitude, and interact with others effectively.
+ Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Experience in manufacturing experience in a team-based environment.
+ Previous experience operating forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
+ Familiarity with Safety Programs in a manufacturing facility.
+ Strong interpersonal and communications skills.
+ Ability to work independently with general supervision.
+ Familiarity with ERP or MES programs such as SAP.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional mandatory overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines.- The working environment will include office, warehouse, and outdoor work at ambient seasonal temperatures.- These environments may include exposure to industrial solvents, average noise levels, and hazardous materials.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
May traverse manufacturing or construction environments including stairs and uneven terrain.- Physical demands are sitting, walking twisting, gripping, and climbing. May have to enter confined spaces and heights. Must be able to lift 50lb. Must comply with government and company safety standards by wearing Personal Protective Equipment as mandated.
