Summary
Meal Development & Production Specialist will create, produce and serve meals to the homeless population. And will work with guest and volunteer kitchen workers to produce, serve and clean the kitchen. This position requires a flexible schedule. Shifts include early mornings, nights and weekends. The work schedule will vary and will change according to staffing needs and include nights, weekdays, weekends and some holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use sound culinary principles when developing and producing all meals.
- Create meals utilizing food items and ingredients from what's on hand in the kitchen.
- Assign duties, responsibilities and workstations to guest and volunteer kitchen workers according to work requirements.
- Supervise and coordinate activities of guest and volunteer kitchen workers engaged in preparing and serving food.
- Train guest and volunteer kitchen workers in proper food preparation and service procedures.
- Interact with volunteers and make their time at the Center as enjoyable as possible.
- Provide brief tours of the facility for interested volunteers.
- Record production and operations data on specified forms and/or in the computer.
- Clean and organize supply, equipment and work areas to ensure safe and efficient production and service, in conformance with Department of Health standards.
- Receive and date all donations as well as other kitchen deliveries, Put away donations and deliveries, in conformance with Department of Health standards. Make sure the donation form is filled out completely by the person making the donation.
- Maintain security of equipment and supplies.
- Resolve complaints regarding food service.
- All other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service or the CFO, CEO or any Senior Mangers including job functions outside the kitchen.
Resident, Guest and Internal Customer Focus
The Meal Supervisor is sensitive to emotional, spiritual and practical needs of resident, families, guests and staff members in all interactions. Provides positive feedback and comments about the quality of work and effort that have been offered by residents, families and coworkers. Adjusts priorities and schedules to meet specific customer needs. Reports and/or corrects problems related to safety, cleanliness and comfort of resident and work areas. Universal Precautions and Infection Control techniques are followed. Understands own role facility safety plans and procedures related to fire, weather and other disasters is demonstrated.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of Five years' experience in the Food Service Field and Shelter
- Physically able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
- Able to work flexible schedules.
- Able to work in commercial kitchen setting.
- Able to obtain Florida Food Manager's Certification or equivalent.
- Able to accurately record collected data.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with guests,
- co-workers and volunteers.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- If driving a company vehicle on work-related business, must be 21 years of age and will require an acceptable annual Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Ability to pass a Level II Background Check.
- Follow guidelines to ensure correct serving temperatures and adequate portion control.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Proficient understanding of food allergies and modified diets.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
