With very humble beginnings in 1982, Butch's Pizza has grown from a small pizza factory in the south end of Peoria, Illinois to a successful company with over 40 employees. Now Butch's Pizza delivers products to most of Illinois, parts of Iowa, Indiana and ships pizzas by the dozen nationwide. As the business grows, Butch's Pizza maintains a commitment to quality and service.
For almost 40 years Butch's Pizza has used only the finest pork, cheese and produce. No meat fillers or preservatives are added to their sausage. They blend the seasoning from a family recipe for that "Just Right" flavor.
In an old auto body shop, Butch Carey began his journey because he and his family liked pizza. At a time when Butch and his two older sons were out of work steamfitters and his youngest son was just out of high school, Butch's Pizza began. It started by selling one variety of pizza, a 9" Super Supreme, to local taverns. Butch's now distributes over thirty varieties of pizzas as well as sandwiches, tamales, hot sauce and their own special blend of seasoning.
The whole family worked in the business. They cooked sausage and handled sanitation to meet U.S.D.A. standards. In the beginning, all of the signs were drawn by hand. They tried to make 10 signs each night for the next day's new customers. Butch's wife designed the logo "the pig" which is registered in the state of Illinois.
The family sold, delivered, maintained equipment and did the administrative work. We tried to open 10 new accounts a day. Sometimes we did, and sometimes we didn't, but we tried hard every day. We all worked late hours doing things for the business. We were closing out paper work, getting raw materials in preparation for the next day, and trying to open new accounts. Everyone worked in the kitchen as needed to keep up with the overwhelming tasks that were necessary in running a family business.
In 1984, Butch's Pizza moved to Morton, IL where the first White Garlic Pizza was produced. Butch's was the first in the United States to create a White Garlic Pizza for distribution. In 2004, Butch's moved again to a larger facility in Morton to accommodate company growth.
With almost 40 years of experience, Butch's Pizza continues offer a top quality pizza combining the finest ingredients to get that "just right flavor". Butch's employees are passionate about their pizza and are committed to providing the best product and service to you.
