The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to; using validated mechanical, technical, physical, communication skills and experience in order to maintain a safe reliable and comfortable health care environment. Carries out the daily corrective and preventative maintenance routines of the department and stays abreast of current technological issues in order to make the best positive contribution to patient care. Uses experiences gained to achieve healthcare certification. Perform tasks at a higher level under supervision or as directed. Complete other functions that may be assigned.
Responsibilities:(25%)* Performs plumbing and pipe fitting at a level commensurate with years of experience and in accordance with applicable standards.
Replace worn/damaged pipes, fittings and/or fixtures in accordance with applicable codes.
Clean, maintain and repair waste lines, filters, and install plumbing fixtures.
Service, adjust and maintain water softeners, domestic hot and cold water systems.
Monitor, maintain, and repair medical gas systems and associated components: controls, filters, pumps, motors, and alarms.
Respond to all plumbing emergencies.
Monitor, maintain, and repair steam delivery systems and components such as: traps, pumps, piping and associated equipment.
(25%)* Performs rough and finish carpentry tasks as a process of completing work requests or working on renovation projects.
Perform rough carpentry in accordance with commercial industry standards as directed.
Build and repair cabinets & shelves, install and assemble work surfaces & other counters.
Able to install and repair doors, windows, and ceiling;
Capable of hanging, taping & finishing drywall as well as associated repairs and painting.
Perform general masonry repairs.
Read and implements work from drawings and work orders provided.
(25%)* Responsible for working safely, and self directed in situations in order to protect and maintain self, co-workers, patients and visitors.
Assist with fire safety training of all hospital personnel, with various hazardous waste program, and acts responsibly & safe when performing all aspects of the job.
Strive for advancement through experiences with others, study aids, seminars, and workshops, provided
Perform work assigned to completion and is able to work independent of direct supervision.
(25%)* Responsible for facility security
Respond to all emergency conditions including, Code gray, Code lift, Code Pink, Code Purple, Code Silver, Code Red, Code Triage, Code Weather and take a leadership role in the absence of direct supervision within the plans for each of these events.
Perform security such as door locking schedule, parking lot observations and reports all variances properly.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs general facility maintenance to maintain the physical, mechanical and environmental integrity of the physical plant and all associated equipment:
Troubleshoot, service, repair, and maintain patient room accessories such as: electrical/mechanical beds, patient transfer equipment, nurse call system, and safety inspect personal electric equipment.
Service, repair, and maintain dietary equipment, laundry, housekeeping, and office equipment.
Review manufactures specifications on equipment and makes recommendations for parts orders or repairs to supervisor.
Assist outside service personnel to perform installations, repairs and maintenance to any physical plant system as directed.
Performs transfer/moves of furniture, equipment and supplies when directed.
Perform scheduled Pm inspections on all types of physical plant & patient care equipment, all Life Safety fire protection features and minor service on fire prevention system.
Reports all unsafe conditions or equipment failures on variance form and to supervisor immediately.
Performs basic electrical services to fulfill the safety and convenience requirements to our customers:
Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, or replace electrical switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, cords, fuses, circuit breakers, electric motors, and electrical motor control panels.
Install wiring and conduct under the direct supervision of a licensed electrician.
Test and perform minor maintenance on emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, and battery back-up systems.
Installs new equipment & systems:
Review manufacturers’ requirements to perform modifications to existing services using various skills from drawings, specifications and work orders.
