MECHANIC
TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT
12 Month Position
Position Summary:
Performs preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on all District vehicles. Ensures the proper operation of all tools, maintenance and transportation department vehicles.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Requires 2-5 years of job-related prior experience
- Requires State Inspector’s License
- Must possess or be able to obtain a School Bus Operator’s License
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs and logs preventative maintenance, computerized diagnostics on all District Vehicles
- Inspects buses bi-annually to ensure they meet State regulations
- Secures and maintains the security of the transportation department, including monitoring building, lots, vehicles, etc.
- Provides roadside service to District drivers and determines whether to tow vehicle or repair on-site
- Monitors weather, notifying all necessary officials of inclement weather
- Attends safety meetings and workshops
- Serves as a substitute driver when needed
- Performs other related duties as required
COMPENSATION FOR EXPERIENCE IS CONSIDERED, 2024-2025 Classified Salary Schedule
(Additional Salary Credit given for ASE certification)
