SUMMARY
Under general supervision, support project-engineering activities through valve design configuration, testing, and troubleshooting. Provide support for development of prototypes for research and development.
ESSENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES:
- Design, develop, and test products to meet customer requirements 50 %
- Generate and review production drawings for newly developed products 20 %
- Perform product support functions for both internal and external customers 10 %
- Plan and track product development efforts 10 %
- Maintain client communications and update technical documents 5 %
- Provide additional support for design drawings as needed 5 %
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Electro-Mechanical Engineering from a four-year college or university, Masters Degree a plus
- 7+ years of product design experience
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Skilled with 3D CAD, Finite Element Analysis, and Fluid Dynamics modeling
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of database, internet, spreadsheet, and word processing software
- Functions effectively in a team environment
Desired Knowledge and Skills:
- 2+ years’ experience in Gate, Butterfly, or Ball Valve Design
- Excellent corrosion management skills
- Knowledge of internal combustion engine operating criteria
- Excellent thermodynamics skills
- Pneumatic, Hydraulic, and electronic valve actuation design
- DFMEA and PPAP
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to communicate technical issues both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlations techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
