Your Role Within the Company
As a licensed Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing HVAC production drawings, plumbing designs, process piping, including compressed air, gas, and water piping. You will also be preparing fire protection specification sheets, reviewing documentation on projects, interacting with clients, attending client meetings, managing others, supervising and working closely with the Senior Mechanical Engineer. You will independently be coordinating information with other disciplines to make sure deliverables are compliant with client expectations. There is an opportunity to progress into the Company Leadership Team
The Successful Candidate should bring the following
· Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program in the United States. PE registration in the state of South Carolina or the ability to obtain the same. NCEES registration is desirable if not currently registered, then ability to obtain registration if hired. Ability to obtain additional state professional registrations as required.
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a registered PE in mechanical engineering of industrial projects with a variety of mechanical systems including the design of HVAC systems, chilled/hot water, and DX systems, cooling/and heating load calculations, equipment selection, controls, life cycle costing, specification writing, studies, cost estimating, shop drawing review, site observations and basic knowledge of AutoCAD. Construction experience is desirable.
· Experience with development of fire protection specification sheets, design of plumbing, process piping, and compressor piping also desired.
· Full understanding of current building codes, IBC, and National Fire Protection Code, particularly as it applies to industrial facilities with hazardous use groups. Familiarity with FM Global standards a plus.
· Experience with defining and specifying mechanical design loads, equipment selection, development of project specifications, construction drawings, shop drawing review, and resolving issues and conflicts that arise during construction.
· Must be able to visit existing client facilities and active construction sites, and make observations of existing conditions, current challenges encountered during construction, or other issues that may require physically traversing the site and/or building to observe and measure facilities and equipment not at the main level of the structure.
· Ability to accept and meet challenges for which there may not be an exact answer.
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet project schedules and goals. Excellent record keeping a must.
· Experience with computer aided design and drafting programs including but not necessarily limited to AutoCAD and Revit.
· Experience with industry software such as COMcheck, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, and eQuest, or other HVAC design software.
· Good verbal and written communication skills, with English as the primary language. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work as a team within the Mechanical Department and with other disciplines.
