Mechanical Engineer
Responsibilities
- Develop designs using computer-aided design (CAD) 3-D software, ensuring accurate and efficient design processes.
- Design pressure vessels, including detailed drawings, fabrication, and piping, with familiarity in TIG, seam, and spot-welding techniques.
- Lead sheet metal design projects, from initial concept through detailed drawings and fabrication.
- Collaborate with the purchasing department to evaluate and manage potential vendors for fabricated parts or assemblies.
- Design for various fabrication processes, such as stamping, machining, investment casting, and plastic injection molding.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, manufacturing, and sales, to ensure design specifications meet project requirements.
- Create and test prototypes, ensuring functionality, feasibility, and compliance with codes and standards using in-house or external fabrication resources.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables while adhering to relevant industry standards.
- Resolve product-related issues focusing on usability, aesthetics, and performance.
Requirements:
- 5 to 8 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in developing designs using 3-D CAD software.
- Strong expertise in sheet metal design from concept to fabrication.
- Experience in pressure vessel design, including piping and welding methods.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes including stamping, machining, investment casting, and plastic injection molding.
- Strong mechanical engineering background for new product development.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 2021 (or newer), especially in the sheet metal module.
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Vault Basic for managing design data and revisions.
- Familiarity with Autodesk AutoCAD for 2D design and drafting.
- Experience with Excel and Adobe Acrobat for project documentation and reporting.
