About the Job
The Mechanical Engineer II serves as the technical specialist in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in an assigned area. Uses CAD modeling and advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments. Works as a design lead on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features and may require innovative solutions to unique problems. The role requires good analytical skills combined with ability to apply analysis and expertise to complex programs, projects and/or technology solutions. May also provide oversight for a team of engineers and technicians with specific projects, based on project needs.
Base Salary Range 94,000 – 114,000
The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans, generous time off and profit sharing

Responsibilities:Project Management/Product Development/Technical Oversight
Role will require technical oversight for major and fairly complex projects (numerous interdependencies and
implications) that involve a large team. Responsibilities include concept development based on engineering and
industrial design requirements, feasibility/risk assessment, detailed mechanical design and simulations,
generation of technical documentation, engineering level verification activities and results analysis, design
qualification plan development and execution, and product support throughout complete product life cycle.
Workflow planning: Plan multiple projects simultaneously. Estimate, track & complete project on time and within
budget. Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of the engineering work associated with specific project task.
Develop technical project workflow plan, including key milestones, priorities and resource needs. Reconcile
inherent conflicts that exist in product design to achieve higher order business outcomes.
Risk mitigation and risk management: Identify technical program issues/risks and potential workaround and
communicate details to the team. Monitor key metrics for potential deviation in order to mitigate risk early and
take appropriate action. Identify recommended changes where appropriate to ensure success criteria and
deadlines are continuously met and provide information to the cross-functional team.
Analysis, Testing, and Qualification
Structural analysis of conceptual designs to determine viability. Work with other disciplines and suppliers to
ensure design is manufacturable and within BOM cost goals.
Hands-on involvement and oversight of product verification testing. This includes troubleshooting and
determining solutions.
Team Leadership
Provide counsel and technical recommendations to cross functional team to ensure project progress and
deliverables are met, raising issues that impede product viability. Propose potential solutions to address issues
and ensure all potential implications are considered.
Identify problems and actively devise appropriate solutions for both technical problems and those that may arise
from differences in opinion.
Lead group of engineers and technicians. Assure project milestones, scope, and timeline commitments are met.
Act as a mentor to less senior engineering team members, setting expectations, and providing input and feedback
in a helpful way that fosters accountability. Effectively train teammates per project needs.
Sustaining Engineering Support
Analyze and troubleshoot manufacturing and field issues, support 2nd sourcing efforts, and provide general
engineering feedback for production staff.
Qualifications:Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required
- Advanced degree (preferred but not required)
Experience
- Proficient in CAD modeling (Creo preferred)
- Experience working with a PLM system
- Experience in FEA analysis (preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience designing, building, and testing products with plastic or wood materials.
- Experience working with offshore developers preferred.
