Summary/Objective:
The Mechanical Engineer must have extensive experience in executing projects for the Oil Refining, Gas Transmission or Petrochemical industries with the highest level of quality, cost effectiveness, and a focus on safety. The Mechanical Engineer will have excellent communication skills and be able to work with other engineering disciplines, sometimes across multiple offices.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes. Conducting feasibility and economic studies, conceptual design, front end design including process hazard analysis (PHA), and detailed engineering.
- Supporting construction and commissioning activities including procedure development, operations and maintenance training, pre-startup safety reviews, and post-startup performance tests.
- Establish safety procedures for those working with dangerous chemicals.
- Develop processes for separating components of liquids and gases, or for generating electrical currents, by using controlled chemical processes.
- Design and plan the layout of equipment, assist testing products and systems.
- Assist with production line installations and start-ups associated with capital equipment projects.
- Deliverables include technical design specifications for equipment, processing specifications, process assistance to the plants and development of ACE justifications.
- Conduct tests and monitor the performance of processes throughout production.
- Included in this responsibility are troubleshooting, standardizing, and improving existing products/processes as well as maintaining all standard documents.
- Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Estimate production costs for management, analyze data and processes.
- Organize work in alignment with business priorities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering required.
- Master’s degree in chemical engineering preferred.
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in a production or research environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/365.
- Project management experience a plus.
- Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to traverse various types of terrain at plant sites.
