Job Description:
One of our clients is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their Orlando, FL location to lead mechanical engineering efforts on large-scale projects. This role involves designing mechanical systems from the ground up, performing detailed analyses and calculations (stress, fatigue, acceleration forces, etc.), conducting failure and effects analysis, managing risk assessments, selecting components, and overseeing installation and commissioning.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement integrated mechanical systems to meet process requirements, ensuring compliance with local and government standards.
- Perform hazard analysis, develop mitigation strategies, and optimize system designs to minimize single points of failure.
- Create comprehensive documentation including system configuration, theory of operation, mechanical design descriptions, test plans, and maintenance guides.
- Develop mechanical design drawings, assemblies, and installation procedures using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
- Conduct system analyses, including stress, fatigue, reliability, tolerance studies, and life expectancy calculations.
- Understand ride system design requirements, including guest accelerations, reach envelope, emergency evacuation protocols, and control system failure scenarios.
- Assist with start-up, debugging, and documentation of integrated systems in industries such as entertainment and manufacturing.
- Serve as technical lead, guiding engineers, technicians, and contractors, and manage smaller projects valued between $50k to $250k.
- Develop and execute project implementation plans, assign tasks, manage deadlines, and monitor project progress.
- Oversee project purchasing, subcontractor requirements, and develop costs and proposals for change orders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical systems, stress analysis, acceleration forces, and amusement ride safety standards (ASTM Standards).
- Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Microsoft Windows, and Office environments.
- Key Competencies: Strong knowledge of contract documents, field data collection, system design, planning, customer focus, timely decision-making, problem-solving, and organization.
Travel: Up to 35% travel required.
Physical Demands: Includes visual and auditory acuity, clear speech, manual dexterity, driving, lifting, climbing, and equipment mounting/dismounting.
Working Environment: Includes standard and on-site office settings, and diverse industrial environments with frequent use of computers and office equipment.
