Kratos Antenna Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with extensive mechanical design skills to plan, manage, and provide guidance to the development of mechanical and electromechanical antenna systems. This individual must be capable of reaching solutions to complex engineering problems both independently and by soliticting input from other techinical disciplines across the organization. The position is located in the Plano, TX office and reports to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Generate conceptual designs for new systems based on customer requirements.
- Responsible for mechanical parts & material selection, creating initial BOMs, cost models, and assembly drawings.
- Create detailed 3D solid models and simulations of new systems and assemblies.
- Works closely with the manufacturing team to assure Design for Manufacturing and Cost.
- Review and approve production drawings.
- Generate complete system mechanical ICD.
- Dynamics and modeling of mechanical systems.
- Work as a team member and collaborates with other functional teams to identify and implement design requirements.
- Assist with system integration and troubleshooting.
- Create technical reports and documentation for design review, acceptance testing, and required analysis.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical manufacturing, tooling, and fabrication processes.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems including schematics, block diagrams and power budgets.
- Mentor mechanical designers and early career engineers.

Required Experience:
- Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years experience in a relevant function. SATCOM experience is highly desired.
- Knowledge of and experience with ASME Y14.5-2018 and drafting documentation for parts, assemblies, and installations.
- Ability to be a GD&T SME for the organization.
- Knowledge of computer software applications: Solidworks and Ansys required, training provided.
- Experience using simulation tools to validate design in accordance with system requirements.
- Practical field/installation experience is a plus.
- Motion control experience is a plus, but not required.
- Knowledge of hydraulic system design is a plus, but not required.
- Flexibility to lead and or advise on multiple projects simultaneously.
- An enthusiastic team player, detail oriented, task focused.
- Excellent written and verbal communication is a must.
Clearance Statement Many of our positions require the ability to obtain a security clearance, as such only candidates that meet the eligibility requirements under ITAR and who are eligible for most levels of a US Government security clearance will be considered.
