Job Title: Mechanical Designer/Project Engineer
Job Description
You will be responsible for designing material handling equipment such as conveyor belts and other machinery. You will be given specific requirements from the facility and will be responsible for designing the solution. Projects can range from adding capacity to the site, retrofitting areas for new equipment, or helping to rearrange existing equipment within the facility. You will also be responsible for determining layouts of the site and developing the scope of work for projects. Writing RFPs, working with vendors for site selection, and working on engineering design and handoff to execution are key aspects of the role.
Responsibilities
+ Design material handling equipment such as conveyor belts and other machinery.
+ Develop solutions based on specific requirements from the facility.
+ Add capacity to the site, retrofit areas for new equipment, and rearrange existing equipment.
+ Figure out layouts of the site and create the scope of work for the project.
+ Write RFPs and work with vendors for site selection.
+ Work on engineering design and handoff to execution.
+ Travel up to 50% of the time for site visits. (1-3 days at a time, no weekend travel)
Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelors degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, electrical, manufacturing).
+ 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing/industrial designs.
+ Hands-on design experience in a manufacturing setting.
+ Experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks.
+ Project management skills.
+ Mechanical design experience in material handling equipment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in upstream/downstream of changing components within systems engineering.
+ Experience in designing electromechanical equipment, such as bearings, shafts, and selecting motor sizes.
+ Understanding how to add capacity or retrofit inbound areas for new equipment.
Compensation:
+ Pay Range: $55-65/hour (x1.5 for any overtime hours)
+ Example: Pay $65/HR, Overtime is $97.50/HR.
Work Environment
This role offers a hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Initially, you may need to be in the office 5 days a week to integrate with the team. There is potential for a return to office 5 days a week in 2025. The position is an 11-month contract with the possibility of a full-time role evaluation or extension for another 13 months. The person will report to the Industrial Design Manager and will be evaluated based on meeting project deadlines and milestones.
