General Information Tell us about the unit(s): Number of Beds - 20 Number of Staff Depends on surgeries Type of staff: o Day Shift 1 charge, 1-3 RN/LVN, +/- PCT depending on the number of patients o Night Shift 1 charge, 1-3 RN/LVN, +/- PCT depending on the number of patients Patient Ratios 5:1 on days, and 5-6:1 on nights. Type of equipment Occasional CPM, T-stat, wound vac EMR Permanent Positions on Unit Avaliable? (Y/N) Y Typical hiring profile Skill Set Most recruited for: (Travel RNs, local CNAs and sitters) Must have: candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Critical thinking skills BLS/ACLS Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first. Able to work in a fast-paced environment and do relief charge. Over a year of nursing experience. List typical procedures performed on unit(s): Orthopedics, Neuro, Urology, Thyroidectomy. Hysterectomy, DIEPs. Best personality Fit: Friendly and able to connect with patients and multidisciplinary team Flexible with working days. Avoid gossip and be responsive with communication responses. Dress Code: Include requirements, but most of all not acceptable attire. Scrub Color - Navy Blue Personal clothes are not acceptable Unit Guidelines/Policies: Please feel free to attach unit policies and guidelines. We work with different surgeons and we have all their requirements and expectations available for new staff to get acquainted with. Taking breaks is mandatory on the unit and all staff are responsible for taking them during their 12-hour shift. Awards/Recognition: Feel free to include items such as links to videos that feature the department, outstanding department/team awards, reigning annual chili cook-off winners, etc. We recognize our staff on the spot and through our Rise points. We also have colleague recognition. Any additional information that would entice a worker to select your unit for their assignment: Consider items such as new equipment or technology, tenure and experience of staff, schedule options, etc. *Remember it is a very competitive market any information you can provide will help attract talent. St. David s Hospital is a state-of-the-art specialty hospital with large patient rooms and a few double family rooms. We are a campus of North Austin Medical Center in a different location. All our rooms have the necessary equipment needed for our patient care. It is a purely surgical telemetry unit, where we take patients who are staying post-surgery. The average stay for our patient population is 1-3 days. We work together with PT/OT, CM, Hospitalists, and Surgeons/PA/NP to give effective and exceptional care for a safe discharge home. Our staff are all friendly and welcoming. Patient satisfaction score is our priority and we perform daily patient rounding to ensure all the patients on the unit get the care they deserve.
