Ideal candidate must be Registered/Certified Medical Assistant or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program. Prefer two years' experience as a Medical Assistant or comparable title. Primary function will be working in all areas within the center doing vital signs, rooming patients, labs as needed, answering the phones, facilitating request for Epic and MyMDA and good customer service skills.
SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Medical Assistant position is to provide patient care assistance to the ambulatory care patient, as delegated, and support daily operations of the center.
Shift / Hours : Monday - Friday / (8 hour shifts or 10 hour shifts (including weekends and holidays)

REQUIREMENTS
Education
Required: High school diploma/equivalent.
Preferred: Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program or US Military medical services training program.
Experience
Required: One year of medical assistant experience. With preferred degree, no experience is required.
Preferred: 2 years of recent inpatient nursing experience preferably in pediatrics and/or oncology.
Licensure/Certification
Required: Certified or eligible to be certified by one of the following based on Medical Assistant experience or preferred education: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Preferred: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

- Responsibility include completion of routine patient care assignments as delegated.
- Accurately record vital signs and other data, report abnormalities to nursing staff.
Assist Patients:
- Aids in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, greeting, rooming and vital signs
Work Environment:
- Maintains environment in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
- Stock and maintain unit and patient care supplies and equipment.
Effective Communication:
a. Escalates significant events and concerns regarding patients and their care of appropriate nursing staff.
- Responsible for the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times.
