We are looking for a dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician in Rosebud, SD. The ideal Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) will possess strong communication and critical thinking skills, along with a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests on patient samples, such as blood, urine, and tissue, to help diagnose and monitor medical conditions. Your duties include preparing specimens, operating sophisticated lab equipment, analyzing test results, and ensuring all procedures are conducted in accordance with established protocols and safety standards. You will work closely with other laboratory professionals and healthcare providers to ensure timely and reliable results, which are crucial for patient care. Your ability to maintain precise records and manage multiple tasks efficiently will be key to success in this role, contributing to the overall quality of care provided to patients.
Job Requirements:
- 2 Years experience
- Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or an equivalent MLT or CLT certification with (appropriate training)
- MT or ASCP certification
- American Heart Association BLS

MAJOR TASKS:
Medical Technologists/Technician services shall include quality diagnostic laboratory medicine responsibilities. The following list is not an all-inclusive list but shall encompass the majority of tasks as would be expected in standard of care for a high complexity laboratory in any CLIA inspected laboratory:
1. Provide examination for all patients presenting to the Laboratory Department after being examined by a Health Care Provider.
2. Independently operates high complexity laboratory equipment to meet the needs of the department.
3. Receives patients, conducts proper patient identification x 2, and explains methods of procedures, special collection instructions and/or criteria to obtain the best possible laboratory results.
4. Performs phlebotomy procedures on all age classifications for venipuncture or capillary collection of samples.
5. Performs maintenance on all laboratory equipment per manufactures required timeframes a is consistent with all standard laboratory protocols across the industry.
6. Maintains a quality control system for the laboratory setting on a daily basis to meet all CLIA, HIPAA and JCAHO standards. This includes using Levey Jennings criteria for acceptance or rejection of quality control results, utilizing best practices methods for problem solution to ensure systems are fully operable before any patient testing is performed.
7. Performs a variety of routine to highly complex tests to meet the needs of the Medical Staff, as well as, the needs of the specialty clinic physicians. Areas of Laboratory medicine include: hematology, chemistry, blood banking, urinalysis, serology, reference testing, and genera microbiology.
