Gateway Gastroenterology is an independent 6-physician and 3-Nurse Practitioner single specialty Gastroenterology group located in Chesterfield, MO.
About the Role:
Medical Administrative support role to the providers of the practice.
Job Responsibilities
You will be involved in helping us take care of our patients by answering the phone, scheduling for office visits, procedures, labs and radiology exams using our electronic health record system. At times, you will also be taking messages from patients for refills, test results, or symptoms and routing the message to the appropriate provider.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
1-2 years of medical administrative, clerical work, or customer service experience preferred, but not required.
Basic computer knowledge.
Company Offers:
Salary range starts from $17.00/hour.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Patient Management:**
- Greet patients and visitors on the phone with a professional and courteous demeanor.
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
- Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations.
2. **Administrative Support:**
- Maintain and organize patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails.
- Prepare and manage patients' prep instructions for procedures.
3. **Patient Interaction:**
- Provide patients with information regarding their appointments, procedures, and insurance coverage.
- Address patient concerns and resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure patients are prepared for their appointments and procedures.
4. **Office Coordination:**
- Ensure that the office environment is clean, organized, and welcoming.
5. **Record Keeping and Reporting:**
- Update and maintain patient accounts, including current demographic and insurance information.
- Prepare and generate reports as required by the office manager or medical staff.
- Track and manage patient flow to optimize office efficiency.
6. **Collaboration:**
- Work closely with medical and administrative staff to support patient care and office functions.
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of office procedures and improvements.
**Qualifications:**
- **Education:** High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates degree or relevant certification preferred.
- **Experience:** Previous experience in a medical office setting, preferably in gastroenterology, is advantageous.
- **Skills:**
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
**Physical Requirements:**
- Ability to sit for extended periods and perform tasks involving repetitive motions, such as typing.
**Work Environment:**
- Primarily office-based with interaction with patients and healthcare staff.
- Professional and fast-paced work environment with a focus on patient care and efficient office management.
Compensation details: 17-20 Hourly Wage
